Which is of more import?

In the need for speed which is the higher provider of such? The number of cores in a processor or the Ghz? For instance, a comparison;

The intel processor has only 2 cores as opposed to the AMD's 6, but the intel has 3.30 GHz of speed while the AMD has only 2.80 GHz. And the intel is overclock capable.

 

One good thing about having to save my allowance for this next machine is that by the time I'm able to lay down the cash the higher end hardware will be down to a reachable price.
