Gang:

Hi, I just started using DCG (so who knows if I'm actually doing it right!?!) & I am currently working my way thru the 'Channel Battles' series of campaigns. Anyway, I prefer defensive flying so I started as a luftwaffe pilot in 1942; I noticed something odd --the spitfires would never fly all the way out to our area of patrol-just the odd boston, blenheim or mosquito so I jumped to 1943...The same thing happened-what's weirder, the B17s & B24s always crash on takeoff and again the spitfires never reach the areas we are protecting, which results in results surprisingly sparse engagements.

Am I doing something wrong? Maybe my settings on DCG are somewhat off?

Thanks ahead of time.

It's been years since I looked at that campaign so the various patches of IL2 may have changed the behaviour of planes (causing crashes at take off).  As far the Spitfires never flying all the way, check the campaign radius.  If it's too small (25 kms or even 50 kms) that may be the reason.  You want the radius to be at least as many kilometres as the distance between the nearest British airbase and the nearest German airbase (and having it at least 50% further is even better).

OK I hope you or somebody else can look into this...I changed the combat radius to darned near it's maximum, but the escorts never come close to my base AND the US 4 engine bombers still blow up as they take off;

I guess you're using JG_X_Man's Channel Front campaign designed for CUP/WAW, right? (https://www.sas1946.....html#msg566054)

Do you have these settings?

   Active Front "Off"
   Air Starts "On"
   Massed Bombers "On"
   Delay Starts "On"
   No Transfers "On"
   Column Density "Full"
   Max. Flights/Squadron = 2
   Action Radius = 650km

As to the Fortresses, do they crash or blow up upon takeoff? If they blow up, it means that their assigned payload is not available in the game version you use. BTW, which game version do you have? The campaign was made for CUP/WAW (but you also need this: https://www.sas1946....,51330.0.html),and may also work in BAT, but don't expect it to work with other modpacks.

Oh, sorry, I forgot to post my specs:-I have the 4.13.3m version from GOG; I do not use CUP/WAW/BAT-yet. I was told that the latest DCG would potentially work with 4.13.3m. As for the Forts & Libs, well the first one blew up, then every other plane that flew over it exploded as well.I am not totally sure if they struck the wreckage or just 'exploded'.

DCG works fine with 4.13.3 -- provided you use the stock DCG campaigns coming together with DCG. The Chanel Front campaign is a third-party development, it has been made for a modpack and uses modified data files which are incompatible with 4.13.3.

This campaign was created for use with Paul Lowengrin’s Dynamic Campaign Generator (DCG) v3.49b4 and SAS Community Universal Pack “C.U.P.” WaW #20.

Sniperton, do you happen to know of a 'stock' DCG Western Front Campaign? By western front I mean (Maybe France; BoB) The channel against the RAF, The  channel against the USAAF, the Normandy landings, retreat to Germany, air combat during the bulge & 'the end of the line'....

Sure, but you have to be clear about that the stock game lacks many of the historic maps and planes, e.g. there's no proper Channel map and there are no early Spitfires: You'll fly Hurris (or against Hurris) on the Finsgulf map instead. The whole modding thingy was started some 10 years ago to remedy this situation.

Uncheck 3rd Party Campaign in DCG, go to Career menu in the game, and select any of these, depending on your side preferemce:

 * Royal Airforce Pilot (DCG)

Dynamic campaign for Royal Airforce fighter pilot using Full Auto-Generation Mode.
France40 France 1940

Normandy44 Normandy 1944
Norway44 Norway 1944
Ardennes44 Ardennes 1944

* German Fighter Pilot in Western Europe (DCG)

An interesting & somewhat unorthodox variety of campaigns. Thanks.

Yep, the stock game has its limitations, hence the unorthodoxy.
