First off, photobucket is garbage. But that’s not what I’m posting about.

I’ve taken a break from flight simming to pursue a personal goal of mine and that is coming along. I was hoping to get away from simming altogether but having a new wheel set up, a gaming rig, and some excess lumber I put some elbow grease into a dedicated racing rig. With a $40 Racing seat I pulled from a Toyota Celica at a local U-Pick it worked damn well. I had made some errors that I needed to correct to make it really work right but I never really got around to it until now.

However, when I decided to modify the setup I decided that racing sims weren’t as exciting as other things (and iRacing is a money pit) so when I pulled screws, recut some of the components, added new components, and did a little bit of redesign....well....this happened:

Looks really cool.  If I tried to bring anything like that contraption into my house, first my wife would look at me funny, then when she realized what it was for......"Hell NO!  That THING is not going in MY house!!!"

Love it Barton !  Like Kliegmann ,,, the boss wouldn't allow it. You'd probably find me slumped over in the seat with a head wound.

So, does this mean you're on your way back to us?  I do know you have one more medal that just keeps eluding you.

I did do a bit of tuning my sensitivities in BoX and some QM fights against AI to knock some rust loose. I can’t say right now how much I will or will not be able to do

I got my first combat sortie in in a long time with Lip and Badger. Although we lost two planes to blown engines (no pilots lost) we did do considerable damage to a train station and I got 2 kills (somehow). The cloud cover was awesome (layered clouds? Hell yeah!) but my graphics settings had made planes practically disappear in them and stutters were making it nearly unplayable at times. With their help I did get this sorted out (thanks guys!) and was eager to get in another sortie but the lady required my attention so I had to sign off.

I will be modifying the setup a bit as the stick is a bit too far forward and high but other than that I don’t really have any complaints about it. Will be working on that tonight after work. Will also be debriefing the sortie in the Oseau forums.

I can try to draw up some plans if you want. It was all seat of the pants engineering.

Vonrd - .....maybe. 🤔🤨😏

What was the fix for the cloud disappearing act?  I have seen something similar.

I used sharpen and 4K textures. Got rid of the stutter and as far as I could tell in QM the disappearing act, though I should do a bit more testing
