  1. Some Impressions of a bombing run with P-38s by @=GenMarkof007=, @loopy, @TedsOnMeds and me on Finnish Virtual Server from today. Overall it went fine, allthough we unfortunatly lost Loopy on our way home, because we were feeling to save and some fighter simply surprised us from behind and shot Loopy down. Later on Gen got that guy, but if we would have taken more care on our formation we might have avoided that loss... Gen was leading , Ted #2, Loopy #4, both on Gens 4 Postion and me #3 on his 8 Turning in for the attack Dropping the bomb as #2 in the attack

Meh... It will buff out... I took a cpl hits testing a mission. With part of the wing blown off but it was controllable albeit with allot of aileron input so I decided to try to RTB & land it. As I neared the base & got below 600kph it was clear I had no shot at landing it so I pointed its nose at a clear patch of ground & punched out. A remarkable thing happened. It kept flying in a circle around me. Is that damned thing ever going to come down? I watched it circle me for 10min with no sign of it ever coming down. Getting bored I logged off

Had some other great action tonight with @Greif @loopy @Heinrich @Erhardt and @=GenMarkof007=: We just skip the mission Greif and me flew on TAW... So first action was at Combat Box where we attacked Port of Antwerp, where Erhardt and me flew the 110s and others gave escort: ....package delivered: Our fighter escort had fun meanwhile doing aerobats with some enemy fighters over the city After that we flew on FinnishVirtual and did ground attacks on 2 enemy depots, Greif & Heinrich providing fighter escort, other in 110s At t

  9. So I'm watching Mark Felton's recent video on Balloon Busters, and I hear this story I'd never heard before of a Belgian named Willy Coppens landing his Hanriot on a balloon and waiting until it slid off to restart the engine and fly away. I pull up the Wikipedia page and it claims he did this intentionally only after he did it before accidentally. Whether or not those things ever happened, he destroyed a remarkable 34 balloons, lost a leg, participated in the resistance in WWII, and lived to be 94. I have a sudden urge to see what happens if I try to land a Hanriot on a balloon in ROF.

Girls fly great, even better than many men. In certain stressful situations, female psychology works better than male psychology. Unfortunately, their number in aviation is limited primarily by the social structure of the world.

S! Wufnu of J4, previously of JG6, reporting. I remember some ~24 years ago when Somonul, Leep, myself, and others from JG6 were incorporated into JG1 to form J4, it was a very exciting time. I don't remember if Kessler and Flybert were with us prior or if they were the ones that recruited us. Had to leave around the time FIF came about due to college but came back later in the early 2000s and few some bombing runs of some sort. Apparently Lowen & Strick went onto great things afterwards I remember something about promised lands, I still have my WFP folder (apparently they're up

I have also 2 girls and believe me I do my very best to influence them in the right direction. My long term plans are to fly that long actively IRL with them until they make their own licenses and take their old dad with them from time to time... In maybe 12 to 15 years I can let you know how successfull I was... The walls in the kids room are decorated with that motives

  16. S, all! With Flying Circus Vol. 2 right around the corner, I thought it would be nice to revisit the early days of Flying Circus to remind us how far along it's come (DMs and other craziness aside!) For that reason, I put together a brief history of Flying Circus' first organised community event in a little "Mini-Book", to be enjoyed by old FC pilots and newcomers alike. You can check it out Here ! Enjoy!

  18. So another illustrated short report of a mission we had yesterday on TAW: @Vonrd and me in Ju-88s on a long range bombing mission to enemy depot, @Heinrich, @loopy, @Greif in fighters to escort us and help to distract and surpress ground fire. Due to heave cloud cover and strong windy situation we decided to make it a dive bomb run. We flew straight from As airfield just on top of upper cloud layer and arrived there according to plan: First trouble we had than was that we missed the point of pushing down because of the cloud cover, so we overflew and had to turn back towards

Hey folks, just letting you know I'm over the worst of it now. Symptoms are much imrpoved and am starting to smell and taste things slightly again. Lost almost 2.5kg in the last couple weeks which was pretty surprising, I wanted to loose weight but this was definitely an extreme way to go about it lol. Just allowing myself to rest and recouperate at the moment, really knocked me for six. Was a bit scary at times and has given me a bit of a pep talk in some ways to sort my health and fitness levels out. Brain is still rebooting I think, so just sticking to watching repeats of old Star Trek

  21. Thanks for having me! I'm happy I was able to be useful on that second attack run. The P-38's a real joy to fly, and quite easy to manage the engines compared to a lot of other allied aircraft. I'd love to fly it again sometime!

It really smelled like a pine tree which is I guess part of the problem. Fortunately she knows that all I really want for Christmas (or birthday or any holiday) is a model airplane so she goes crazy and covers the spread.

Tough one, I grew watching TNG on BBC2 in the early 90's but I do love TOS too despite it being super cheesy in parts. Voyager is decidedly MEH but I absolutely love DS9, which is what I'm rewatching currently! I've got all of TNG/TOS on Blu Ray, it's really sad they aren't remastering DS9 because they made the switch to digital. The Dominion War would look pretty spectacular in full HD. Yeah some people get it so a food will smell like raw meat or eggs etc and can make it very unpleasent. I just lost my sense of smell and taste entirely, which was really weird. You're eating, but it

  37. Mission IV, continues as 19th Panzer pushes onward to relieve the embattled 1st Parachute Division holding on to the captured Kuniya Airbase. This airborne drop was vital to both advance our air contingent and capture a vital rail hub for our push into Russia. Our OKL anticipates a fierce confrontation with the VVS who will throw everything they have into the breach to regain air supremacy in the region. The Russians are hell bent on destroying the 1st Parachute Division and retaking that airbase. 19th Panzer can expect heavy resistance to try and block our unit from reinforcing this unit.

Hi Wufnu, it's great to hear from you! I don't think we ever flew together, as I joined JG1 in June 2001, and was in Jasta 6 under Wolfgang and Wilhelm. But @Butzzell, @Lowengrin, @Wurger, @Degelow, and @RivRat are still around. @EvLeep even pops in once in a while, though, it's been about a year since I've heard from him. If you want a blast from the past, here is the JG1 website circa December 2001. http://web.archive.org/web/20011204074742/http://www.jagdgeschwader1.org:80/ It's always a trip to check it out. Girls can't fly?! (Maybe they don't have the interest though. I've often wondered if the "sugar and spice and everything nice" is genetically inherent or induced by social training. I really wish that there were more females involved in our hobby).

  44. Did some more colour testing and I think there's been a marked improvement in all the squadrons in terms of recognisability. Still not quite the fully desired effect (I.E. instantly recognisable from extreme range) but I think I've got the squadrons looking as good as they ever will as far as recognition is concerned. The 213th's new "orangey-red" does the trick quite nicely, and one aircraft in particular is pretty much immediately recognisable from almost any range! Speaking of the 213th...I stumbled across the old "1st Edition" 213th skins the other day...was really cool to see how the
