  1. I'm happy to be the first to congratulate our own Hotlead on completing all of the requirements for his college degree. This being an extremely unusual year, he will more than likely be deprived of the standard graduation ceremony that normally would take place at any American university. Regardless of this, he has his family who are undoubtedly and deservedly very proud of him. I want to add my own congratulations for a person who I am sure will be able to overcome any challenges ahead. S! and Well Done, Hotlead!!

  2. Hello everyone! As you all know, WW1 aviation has long fascinated me. I believe the story of WW1 (and even more specifically, WW1 aviators) tends to be overshadowed by WW2 and doesn't get as much press as it deserves. I also enjoy reading/writing and now that I no longer have to write college papers (woo hoo! ), I occasionally get the itch to research something and write about it. That being the case, I present to you, "Climbing Higher" - my personal blog on all things WW1 aviation! Every so often, when I have the inclination and free time, I'll be posting articles about WW1 aviati

    Vikner in fire danger

JG1, Geyserville was the first place evacuated about 06:00 AM last Thursday since the winds were driving the fire down the ridge across from our house (see attached). Wednesday night around 09:30 PM the lights flashed and the internet dropped off line. That was a PG&E power line going down near the geothermal station on Pine Flat (see attached). We had an evacuation warning as we were going to bed and a mandatory evacuation early Thursday. There are about a mile or so of vineyards—which don’t burn well—and the Russian River between Geyserville and that ridge. However, with

    I flew over my house

I flew over my house in a Ju88. The people of 1C Game Studios did an amazing job with mapping the actual rivers, canals, streams and rail lines of the Netherlands. They did it so detailed, that I could identify the stream some 670 m south of where I live. To show more actual details we have some kms to the W, what we call, a zwaaikom (where barges can turn around).

  8. Some Impressions of a bombing run with P-38s by @=GenMarkof007=, @loopy, @TedsOnMeds and me on Finnish Virtual Server from today. Overall it went fine, allthough we unfortunatly lost Loopy on our way home, because we were feeling to save and some fighter simply surprised us from behind and shot Loopy down. Later on Gen got that guy, but if we would have taken more care on our formation we might have avoided that loss... Gen was leading , Ted #2, Loopy #4, both on Gens 4 Postion and me #3 on his 8 Turning in for the attack Dropping the bomb as #2 in the attack

All the particulars are posted under FiF tournament information. Of special note will be the map for this series. If you have flown Jasta 5's excellent series "Bloody April" you will recognize it as the northern half of that area. We have not used this area for an FiF. We use it now because of the great variety of rivers, roads and rail roads. The plane set will be early: N-17, N-17 GB, Strutter, RE8, Hal

  19. Greetings, all! I'm very excited to share with our frenemies at J.G.1 some sneak-peeks at the upcoming skin pack for the 3rd Pursuit Group. Meticulous historical research has gone into the 3rd P.G pack in order to give it as much historical grounding as possible, down to the tiniest detail! This includes factory serial numbers, stencilling and camouflage patterns, individually painted Indian heads for the 103rd, and historically correct and unique markings for each squadron. Some of our aircraft even have replacement parts and patched-up bullet holes! Without further ado - here are the

So another illustrated short report of a mission we had yesterday on TAW: @Vonrd and me in Ju-88s on a long range bombing mission to enemy depot, @Heinrich, @loopy, @Greif in fighters to escort us and help to distract and surpress ground fire. Due to heave cloud cover and strong windy situation we decided to make it a dive bomb run. We flew straight from As airfield just on top of upper cloud layer and arrived there according to plan: First trouble we had than was that we missed the point of pushing down because of the cloud cover, so we overflew and had to turn back towards

Meh... It will buff out... I took a cpl hits testing a mission. With part of the wing blown off but it was controllable albeit with allot of aileron input so I decided to try to RTB & land it. As I neared the base & got below 600kph it was clear I had no shot at landing it so I pointed its nose at a clear patch of ground & punched out. A remarkable thing happened. It kept flying in a circle around me. Is that damned thing ever going to come down? I watched it circle me for 10min with no sign of it ever coming down. Getting bored I logged off

I'm looking forward to seeing how the game handles the ICON A5 water landings and wave physics in general. Remembering Joint-Ops

I was clearing out my inboxes and came upon my certificate. I spent a lot of time in their courses, finishing all but the last bomber course, I believe. It was a wonderful flight school based on IL-2:1946. I met a ton of fine pilots and instructors and I hope they are all doing well. I only know of a few that are no longer with us, such as Lily. I wish I had all the material they had, it was all great theory.

    A Present

Salute, all! I have a little present for you all. Seeing as 1C have been painfully slow in releasing 4K templates for FC, I decided I would 'retexture' the old RoF templates to 4K standard. Now, I haven't 'officially' put this out for public use yet, but I thought that I'd drop it off here a little early Introducing: The (un)Official 4k Albatros template! The template comes complete with: Completely new weathering to make the aircraft look like a real warbird! Retextured and recoloured wood, designed to match the Albatros on display at the RAF Museum, Hendon.
