  1. Hello everyone! As you all know, WW1 aviation has long fascinated me. I believe the story of WW1 (and even more specifically, WW1 aviators) tends to be overshadowed by WW2 and doesn't get as much press as it deserves. I also enjoy reading/writing and now that I no longer have to write college papers (woo hoo! ), I occasionally get the itch to research something and write about it. That being the case, I present to you, "Climbing Higher" - my personal blog on all things WW1 aviation! Every so often, when I have the inclination and free time, I'll be posting articles about WW1 aviati

  2. Some Impressions of a bombing run with P-38s by @=GenMarkof007=, @loopy, @TedsOnMeds and me on Finnish Virtual Server from today. Overall it went fine, allthough we unfortunatly lost Loopy on our way home, because we were feeling to save and some fighter simply surprised us from behind and shot Loopy down. Later on Gen got that guy, but if we would have taken more care on our formation we might have avoided that loss... Gen was leading , Ted #2, Loopy #4, both on Gens 4 Postion and me #3 on his 8 Turning in for the attack Dropping the bomb as #2 in the attack

    Mental Health

Hi All, A You Tuber , recently lost his battle with mental health issues, he was 27 years young. If anyone at anytime needs to talk, BS, shoot the shit, or other Please reach out to me. At 62 (young compared to Vonrd), I'm here if you need to talk to someone, no judgement zone!!! 27 is way to young and if I can help prevent another needless loss, I'm here!!

  8. So another illustrated short report of a mission we had yesterday on TAW: @Vonrd and me in Ju-88s on a long range bombing mission to enemy depot, @Heinrich, @loopy, @Greif in fighters to escort us and help to distract and surpress ground fire. Due to heave cloud cover and strong windy situation we decided to make it a dive bomb run. We flew straight from As airfield just on top of upper cloud layer and arrived there according to plan: First trouble we had than was that we missed the point of pushing down because of the cloud cover, so we overflew and had to turn back towards

  9. Had some other great action tonight with @Greif @loopy @Heinrich @Erhardt and @=GenMarkof007=: We just skip the mission Greif and me flew on TAW... So first action was at Combat Box where we attacked Port of Antwerp, where Erhardt and me flew the 110s and others gave escort: ....package delivered: Our fighter escort had fun meanwhile doing aerobats with some enemy fighters over the city After that we flew on FinnishVirtual and did ground attacks on 2 enemy depots, Greif & Heinrich providing fighter escort, other in 110s At t

Meh... It will buff out... I took a cpl hits testing a mission. With part of the wing blown off but it was controllable albeit with allot of aileron input so I decided to try to RTB & land it. As I neared the base & got below 600kph it was clear I had no shot at landing it so I pointed its nose at a clear patch of ground & punched out. A remarkable thing happened. It kept flying in a circle around me. Is that damned thing ever going to come down? I watched it circle me for 10min with no sign of it ever coming down. Getting bored I logged off

I'm looking forward to seeing how the game handles the ICON A5 water landings and wave physics in general. I still occasionally load up RoF just to mess around with the seaplanes, it's a lot of fun to surf around the heavy seas in a Felix.

    Remembering Joint-Ops

I was clearing out my inboxes and came upon my certificate. I spent a lot of time in their courses, finishing all but the last bomber course, I believe. It was a wonderful flight school based on IL-2:1946. I met a ton of fine pilots and instructors and I hope they are all doing well. I only know of a few that are no longer with us, such as Lily. I wish I had all the material they had, it was all great theory.

    Tough Bird

A friend of mine sent me the link to the article about the mid-air between the Cirrus and the Sa-226 which I bet you have all seen by now. He said that this was previously an old Berry Aviation bird and previous to that was an old Martinaire bird. I flew every 226/227 that we had back then... close to 20 of them and had 4,000+ hours in the type. I loved the airplane because it always brought me home including deadstick into Dallas Love field. The funny thing that first struck me when I saw the picture was he got him right in the cargo door which was something of an engineering feat for the day

    Mental Health

I've struggled with my mental health at many points in my life, so I can't stress enough how important it is to have someone to talk to about your problems. My sister was the one gave me the number to my therapist. Thankfully I managed to get back on my feet and now I'm a (mostly) functional human being again. If it wasn't for the help I'd received things could've turned out very differently. Thanks for raising awareness and offering your time @Snaggle. Sometimes knowing that there's someone out there who's willing to listen can make all the difference.

On Saturday after FiF @=GenMarkof007=, @loopy, @Greif and me did fly some missions in Tempests at Finnish Virtual again, inlcuding a ground attack on enemy depot: 2 Germans came in but in with great team action Loopy and Gen killed one of them, the other one hit the road... After that attack we did some defensive patroling and overall on that map we downed 7 enemy planes while loosing none of our pilots... unfortunatly I did not record any of those actions. Highlight was the last sortie where Loopy and Gen where RTB with empty guns while my Tempest was damaged by

    Pimax 8kX VR

As VR is getting more and more popular for flight sims, I just thought to write down some of my experience and impressions with the new Pimax 8kX headset if anyone considers to purchase or preorder one. VR is now technically on the edge of fullfilling its expectations for the user, in particular: the visual quality of high resolution headsets provides an image quality in VR very close to a regular monitor. Before I got the 8kX, I had the Pimax 5k+, Samsung Odyssey ( and the Odyssey+ ) and before a HTC Vive. In terms of resolution the 8kX surely is the next step up and it does provide

In short, the event is dedicated to Gothas and their historic raids on cities in England. Several Gothas take off from the mainland and fly to Dover to bomb strategically important targets such as the port infrastructure, railway station, etc. The port is protected by small Entente fighter forces and flaks. We flew this event in December 2017 and it was quite interesting. Having the stupid situation with DM in the Flying Circus, all our pilots, withou

He was a part of the 32nd Air Operations “the spitting wolfhounds.” So I started diving deep into Internet searching and to my surprise, I found an AWESOME picture of him posing on his P38 “Shanty Irish”. Was wondering if anyone could help me out with finding markings or paint colors? Seeing I only have one black and white photo, I feel like there’ll be a lot of guessing. But would love to recreate it and fly it in his honor. I feel bad that I was too young at

    BoX update out !!!

Did you expect some? The improvements are replacing the alternative visibility server setting. What did change is that you can set the MSAA to 8x. Looks nice but you will get a fps hit. For me it went from 144 to 130-135 fps. As for visibility I can see on the J5 Flugpark from Beugnatre a dogfight going on over Arras. Not bad I think. The aircraft are more visible over the front and dont blend with the lanscape textures that much.

There will be same massive Gotha flight to an English town to bomb strategic targets there. An Entente defence is included This time, there will be another town, more targets to bomb and another weather conditions.
