Pragr got a reaction from Snaggle in Unintentional consequences of last FiF
I was so excited about the last iteration of FiF, particularly the early war setup, that I've shall build this:
It's Eduard's 1/48 model. Each square on the cutting board represents 1 square centimeter. Thanks Butzzell, Luftritter and others for three months full of excitement of building this model (since you are responsible for it indirectly ) as well as for FiF

Pragr reacted to IRFC Hawkeye in FiF start time change reminder
All:
Beginning today, the US has transitioned to Daylight Savings Time (DST). Please remember that FiF sessions have always, and will always, begin at 2:00 pm Eastern/US time, regardless of whether it's Standard or DST.
Previously this year, all sessions, having started at 2:00 pm EST (1400), began at 7:00 pm (1900) GMT/UTC.
The next session, taking place on March 16, begins at 2:00 pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time). This coincides with 6:00 pm (1800) GMT/UTC.
Please take care to consider your relationship to GMT/UTC in your local time zone, so you don't show up too early, or miss the first hour of the March 16 session.
Later, when countries in the rest of the world transition to DST, if you are outside the US, it will again affect your start time, back to being what it normally was for you. However, your start time may be different until then.
Remember that US/Eastern time will continue to be GMT/UTC - 4 until US time returns to Standard time next fall, when it returns to GMT/UTC - 5.
S!

Pragr got a reaction from Klaiber in RLM Farben
RLM color is damn complicated subject, particularly when when it gets to late war color. I'm making models for some 35 years now and I'm always in deep hell when I pick camo for late war LW plane. I post following link to illustrate how hard is to find "right" shade of particular color:
http://penelope.uchicago.edu/~grout/encyclopaedia_romana/luftwaffe/colors.html
There you can see how the color shape is developing during years. It's a bit outdated source though, because according to last one or two year reaserches, RLM 83 was Dark Blue! used on plane using over sea areas.

Pragr got a reaction from Britchot in IL-2 Feedback
I post my main concern regarding the game which is the fact that it is heavily fighter oriented.

Pragr got a reaction from Etzel in Graphics settings BoS/RoF
I know that my PC needs to be changed completely, sooner or later. I my case this becomes reality when either the processor or motherboard goes broken. I have the very first generation of Intel i-series processor; it uses socket that is not compatible with 2nd and newer generation. Thus there is no easy solution such is the change of processor/board only. Right now I'm pretty much happy panda The performance boost is so incredible that it's like I'd play a totally different game.
In general, I have third graphic card in my current PC. It has worked like magic in all three cases. There's no sign that BOS would be suffering from the slow processor. As I wrote earlier, the game is running at "high" settings at 60 fps (there is no reason for more since most of monitors are 60 Hz and there is no chance of how to display 60+ fps at 60 Hz monitor). I could switch to "ultra" setting with new rig of course. But the cost would be several times higher and I dislike to change things when they are working well enough for my liking. Additionally, I'm not convinced the "visual" improvements would be worth the money. Still I bought the graphic card with regard to if and when I have to buy new PC, the card itself won't be an issue.
Hope this helps you a bit.

Pragr got a reaction from Klaiber in New joystick
My current joystick (Cobra M5 Defender) is about to go to the silicon heaven. The spring holding the stick in neutral position gave it up yesterday during evasive moves when P-40 bounced me while I was escorting Etzel's Heinkel. The stick is working in fact but with no centering force I have to hold it in the neutral position by myself. The most hilarious consequence is that I was able to shot down that attacking P-40 anyway and made perfect landing on home airfield (I don't even remember when I made such perfect three-point landing with no bounce in Bf 109 ). So I'm absolutely in for Saturday FiF. I suppose the weekend will be fun as hell
Anyway there's my new joystick that should arrive on Monday:
If it looks familiar to you then you're right. It is the replica of KG12 control stick used in Bf 109 and Fw 190.
