A MESSAGE FROM THE STURMOVIK TEAM

    Dear Friends,

As you already know the world is dealing with a health emergency and viral pandemic that we haven't seen in a hundred years or so. It will likely reach every part of the world eventually. We hope none of you catch it and if you do, we hope you have a fast and full recovery. Our first priority is to the health and well-being of the Sturmovik Development Team and their families. 1CGS has taken steps to keep the work environment in Moscow healthy and hopefully virus free. Many of you are dealing with the same thing at your place of business and in your own homes. It's a crazy time to be honest. This event has already disrupted our team and not allowed Jason to travel to Moscow and meet with the team to plan the future development of Great Battles. If it becomes necessary, most if not all of the team can work remotely from home and we can continue making progress on our development goals. Nevertheless, some disruption to our plans may occur. Let's all hope this damn virus goes away and effective treatments and a vaccine is developed quickly.

And we must keep the proper perspective, we make a video game, there are many other more important matters in life to worry about, so for anyone in our community that may be in a part of the world that has already been hard hit by this virus know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. And if any of you are on the front lines as nurses or doctors or emergency personnel please be safe out there! Everyone, please exercise good common sense and practice good hygiene to help slow the progression of the virus.

It's possible that many of us will choose to stay indoors or may be forced to be indoors and IL-2 may be a good activity to pass the time. So, with that in mind, we have placed a couple of Promo Codes into everyone’s profile on the IL-2 website. They are for 50% Off Battle of Bodenplatte and Flying Circus Vol.1 and 75% Off all other previously released content. Pre-Order (Battle of Normandy and Hurricane, Yak-9 and Yak-9T Collector Planes) and Early Access content (Tank Crew - Clash at Prokhorovka) are excluded. The codes are good for 30 days. We have also put the entire Rise of Flight catalog on sale at 75% Off for the next 30 days.

Due to Steam rules, we cannot offer a sale on Steam at this time, but you can always link your accounts if you’d like to take advantage of this offer on our website.

  2. All,

I received an email, as many of you likely have, that there will be a sort of "Coronavirus sale" on the developser's website and coupons will be issued out to players.  Steam rules will not allow a Steam sale so suddenly.  But, that's a pretty neat gesture from them.  Apparently their team is affected by travel restrictions and they recognize that many people will likely be stuck at home, so why not play more IL-2?

    Very Respecfully,

    Archibald

  3. Sigh, I have hestitantly installed this.  I don't like the idea of putting this sort of software on my computer, but I trust this forum and the people enough in it to judge that if it is what it says it is with no malicious or third-party malicious code, then it'll be worth it.  Alzheimers and Parkinson's have run rampant and I've watched too many people deteriorate.  If I can help, I will.  You have my PC sir!  May it serve you well.

  4. I posted this in the IL-2 forum yesterday, but have revceived no response.  I obviously have an active account and have for a number of years.  I ensured my password was up to date and I entered the same in the game.  It will not let me link the accounts no matter what I do.  This forces me to fly around with random names instead of proudly wearing my tags!  It keeps giving me a wrong email and password error.

  5. I have a few bucks and now that it's on sale, I'd like to pick up Battle of Stalingrad and give it a go.  If my budget is about 30 bucks, should I pick up the special edition?  Or, should I get the baseline game and maybe go for one of the add-ons?  Your thoughts?

  6. I actually have no idea what squadron I was with when flying in RB2.  I've been trying to remember how the hell I played multi in RB2 to begin with.  It was a German squadron and we called ourselves the black something or other.  Black Vegetable?  (For those that get that reference, bonus points)

We flew competitions and had tournament trees and everything.  I seemed to be quite good with the Albatross D. III? back then.  It's hard to remember.  I've had a lot pushed through my brain housing group since then.  I've been trying to find something on it on the computer box thing and google machine, but to no avail.

    • What is your Timezone? EST

Do you have a joystick or HOTAS? Joystick with HOTAS

Do you have TeamSpeak installed, as well as a working microphone? Yes

Do you have TrackIR, or a FreeTrack system for view control? No

What sims are you currently flying? IL2 1946, IL2 Cliffs of Dover, Rise of Flight (Primarily)

How did you hear about JG1? I think there is a possibility that this is the descendant of the squadron I flew with back in 1999-2000 when I was playing Red Baron 2.  My pilot name back then was Paradox1 if anyone remembers.  I just got into Rise of Flight recently and forgot how much I missed flying rickety old aircraft with buddies.  I found this squadron on the Rise of Flight forums.

Is there anything else that you'd like us to know? I'm an active duty Gunnery Sgt. in the USMC.  I currently work at Cunningham Field, Cherry Point, the birthplace of Marine Aviation.
