Firefly reacted to Ludwig in IL-2... Pacific theatre?
Man... I can't imagine trying to fly Japanese assets against American.
Yeah, they got better... but man.. I sure would not want to do it.

Good to hear that you're on the way back. Yeah Covid is much more than a heavy cold. I hear from ex-Covid patients that their taste and smell is terrible mixed up: beer smells like almonds and coffee like vinegar.
I hope the best for you, take your time!

Hey folks, just letting you know I'm over the worst of it now. Symptoms are much imrpoved and am starting to smell and taste things slightly again. Lost almost 2.5kg in the last couple weeks which was pretty surprising, I wanted to loose weight but this was definitely an extreme way to go about it lol.
Just allowing myself to rest and recouperate at the moment, really knocked me for six. Was a bit scary at times and has given me a bit of a pep talk in some ways to sort my health and fitness levels out. Brain is still rebooting I think, so just sticking to watching repeats of old Star Trek shows on Netflix and waiting for Brain OS updates to finish installing hahaha.
Hopefully be back in the pit by the end of next week.

Meh... It will buff out...
I took a cpl hits testing a mission. With part of the wing blown off but it was controllable albeit with allot of aileron input so I decided to try to RTB & land it.
As I neared the base & got below 600kph it was clear I had no shot at landing it so I pointed its nose at a clear patch of ground & punched out. A remarkable thing happened. It kept flying in a circle around me.
Is that damned thing ever going to come down?
I watched it circle me for 10min with no sign of it ever coming down. Getting bored I logged off but it was still slowly climbing when I did.

Take care Vogel, get well soon! If the bugger doesn't die within the next few days then I suggest a classic Polish therapeutic method - get a 100 ml shot glass, add about a teaspoon's worth of freshly ground black pepper, pour ice cold Polish vodka over it, lighty stir, drink in one go (with the pepper!) and go to bed immediately afterwards, ideally under several layers of clothing to accelerate perspiration. Works like a charm for nasal congestion! Vodka is also a well-regarded, ahem, internal disinfectant. 😁

Hi folks
Sorry been absent from the forums and flight nights of late, works been busy and on top of that I've managed to catch the dreaded COVID.
Currently waiting for it to bugger off and die. My symptoms are realtively mild at the moment, but the next few days will tell which way things will fly. Thankfully I received my Pfizer vaccine, however it doesn't reach 50% efficacy until 10 days post injection, which is tomorrow. I'm on day 7 of COVID since becoming symptomatic so I'm hoping that it's done something to keep my symptoms from progressing to the point where I need any more intensive treatment. Just feeling completely knackered with a fever and slight cough, and today I've got nasal congestion like your typical cold/flu. 😷
Hoping to be back in the skies before long, need to try out the new updates to the Hornet!
Hope you're all well!

Firefly reacted to Wufnu in History
S! Wufnu of J4, previously of JG6, reporting.
I remember some ~24 years ago when Somonul, Leep, myself, and others from JG6 were incorporated into JG1 to form J4, it was a very exciting time. I don't remember if Kessler and Flybert were with us prior or if they were the ones that recruited us. Had to leave around the time FIF came about due to college but came back later in the early 2000s and few some bombing runs of some sort. Apparently Lowen & Strick went onto great things afterwards 😆I remember something about promised lands, I still have my WFP folder (apparently they're up to 6 now?), and I think I missed FCJ. After that, I remember something about Flander's Fields but it was kinda pricey per airframe model (or am I thinking of something else?) and I couldn't afford it. Was also another cool game Wings with Wires but that fell through.
Truth is, I just haven't had the time in the past 20 years :(
Anyway, glad y'all are still about and hope you're having fun!
S!

Also, definitely check out our posted history: https://jg1.org/richthofen/history/
If there are any details that you can remember that it doesn't cover, let me know. Keeping track of all of the past details of the squadron has been a priority for me, as it's so easy for it to pass into the ether.

Hi Wufnu, it's great to hear from you!
I don't think we ever flew together, as I joined JG1 in June 2001, and was in Jasta 6 under Wolfgang and Wilhelm. But @Butzzell, @Lowengrin, @Wurger, @Degelow, and @RivRat are still around. @EvLeep even pops in once in a while, though, it's been about a year since I've heard from him.
If you want a blast from the past, here is the JG1 website circa December 2001.

It's always a trip to check it out. I have a lot of fond memories of the old black and red website.
If you're ever interested in flying again, just let us know. We're mostly flying IL-2: Flying Circus and Rise of Flight right now. In the meantime, I'd be happy to give you our TeamSpeak information if you're interested in chatting. Just let me know.
Hope to talk more soon.

Girls fly great, even better than many men. In certain stressful situations, female psychology works better than male psychology. Unfortunately, their number in aviation is limited primarily by the social structure of the world.

I have also 2 girls and believe me I do my very best to influence them in the right direction. My long term plans are to fly that long actively IRL with them until they make their own licenses and take their old dad with them from time to time... 😉
In maybe 12 to 15 years I can let you know how successfull I was...
The walls in the kids room are decorated with that motives 😄

Girls can't fly?!
(Maybe they don't have the interest though. I've often wondered if the "sugar and spice and everything nice" is genetically inherent or induced by social training. I really wish that there were more females involved in our hobby).

Despite my nephews' best efforts my mum's Christmas tree is still standing. Apparently my dog likes it, but not as much as the 19th century family heirloom carpet that my mum rolled out for the occasion.

WELL.... she's a REDhead.... so I earn it... believe me... I earn it.
DANGER, FIRE, EXPLOSIVE, HARZARDOUS, CORROSIVE, FLAMMABLE, TOXIC, POISON, HIGH VOLTAGE
They all have one thing in common...... (she got a wagon for Christmas and loves it)
