  1. Unfortunate to hear this, Gordon, but given how competitive and demanding motorsports is, I'm not surprised.

There's not many groups out there doing Simulated or real motorsports that have the same kind of tight knit, respectful community that aviation does. Just because of it being non beneficial to help others in such an intense environment. Many are also resistant to coaching or assistance from trained professionals offering sound advice, because they're still figuring out how Intense or casual they want their racing series to be, teething pains etc.

For anybody interested in dropping into motorsports, try iRacing it has an in-built match making system so it's easy to try online very easily.

SimRacingSystem is okay, but doesn't have the user base it once did as the COVID lockdown sim racing boom has slowly died off. They also require you to present a photo Identification and use your real name, rather than a screen name. This is less of a problem for me, but obviously can be a problem for some people who aren't public figures who have their information already readily available online.

The Photo ID/Real identity problem can be exploited to take video game related foibles offline, which is why groups outside of JG1 have a vote of non confidence from me, I've had issues with them before, won't go into detail here.

If anybody's interested, beginner level motorsports in real life are extremely friendly, affordable and enjoyable, I can help anybody who's willing start the research process for what may be available in their area.

Mark Felton makes so many videos so quickly that I often wonder what his QA looks like.  And how big he's team is.

I do think he has an agenda.  But so do we all.

The thing that bothered me wasn't that he was incorrect about the Lancaster and the Atomic bombs.  Rather, it was that (as far as I know) he never provided evidence for his claims or issued a retraction for incorrect things.  Not owning a mistake is worse than making one in the history game.

Oh totally, that has to be a super important aspect. I can't imagine having to run a team that finds topics and pumps out videos to an audience on that scale that frequently. Stuff is bound to fall through the cracks, surely.

I think a lot of the Military Vehicle Enthusiast community falls for Woozle effect, too. Somebody says a thing, writes an article or a video on it, then that article/video gets cited as a source and nobody can actually substantiate or prove the claim until it's just seen as a truism or common-knowledge fact. It's how you end up with the "Four Sherman's to kill a Tiger" myth and "The T-34 was the first tank with sloped armor!" and the "AK can keep running full auto while CAKED in mud!" and things of that nature. I feel like everybody's fallen for that at some point, including people on the research teams for these big channels.

  3. I'd actually be curious what the process for making one of his production are.

He's been around long enough that surely he has an assistant or team of employees helping work on his stuff by now. He might not even be responsible for the scrips, I know that can happen to some channels as they get larger. Knowledge hub, Alt history hub, the various off shoots of Simon Whestler's Biographics show, Game Grumps, Russian Badger, etc are all managed by entire teams, and the figureheads for them pretty much just own the channel, outsource the editing and come in to to the voice over once they have enough money to keep a staff on payroll.

Regardless, eyeballs on content isn't directly corelated to quality of information; it's good to look at some of this YouTube history stuff to help get introduced to a topic but always super enjoyable to actually dive the topic through primary sources if access can be had to them. Some of the older design documentation is declassified now.

  4. So once everybody's all setup, maybe we can coordinate some similar types/routings of aircraft and do "virtual fly-ins" to specific locations, maybe? Doing some loose non official low maintenance flying events in a civ sim seems like an awesome way to have a chat night when we're not working on combat related stuff!

Yes, HD space.  My install uses 350 GB.

I have the Premium Deluxe version and Reno Air Races along with all the World Updates.

I connect my iPad's  FltPlan Go app over Wi-Fi for moving maps.

The pms50 Garmin mods for GTN750 and GNS530.

AuthentiKit Tuning App with vjoy to get the trim wheel functioning on my Honeycomb Quadrant.

Then 11 addon aircraft I purchased, mostly GA singles plus 3 freeware gliders.

I'm currently checking out the Eastern US mountain ridge system in game where a bunch of glider record distance flights were made.  It's a shame Tom Knauff retired and sold Ridge Soaring Glider Port last year.  It's going to become a horse farm, although it's still in the game (79N).  Took my Schweizer 1-26 there once, but the ridge wasn't working that week.

Anyway I can make the GNS530 app with the 160 HP Piper warrior? I fly a 180 HP G500 Archer for flight school and I can't find a civ sim that has it (Everybody skips from 160 Warrior -> 200HP Arrow or 180 arrow complex 6 pack)

  6. Wonderful, I had my prescription updated for my contacts a month or two ago, so I Figure getting a pair of these will last me longer and cost less than a 6-month supply box of 1-week wear contacts, which are getting into the high 100 low 200 dollar mark now.

I'll go ahead and order some and try it.

Congrats! Your up and running! (noticed your bios setting in the pic "legacy"???), Anyway, Bios is up, windows is up. So what killed it? (cia virus, capacitor, etc. who knows?)

(I had a situation similar once , mine was "out of the monitors resolution") Hardware stress testing through Windows?

    Best of Luck

Still haven't figured out root cause. Just magically started up again after a week of starting but not booting.

Had everything disconnected the whole time I was trouble shooting.

Now it works and I have a couple of fresh parts out of it, so no problem I guess ? Successful start with 0 issues this morning too.

  8. So I woke up this morning and tried resetting the CMOS battery/bios again and this time it would actually flash to bios for me.

Notably, unplugging my USB hub may have also helper somhow? That is the only other change I made today

Ill have to see what I can do from here. New bios update flash and default settings May help.

Update 1: Bios flash seemed to at least get me to the point the computer will now actually boot in fully. Now to see if I can get to recognize a GPU is the next step. But worst case scenario I at least have a functioning PC again

thanks for all the help everybody!!!

  9. Vonrd - thar makes sense, a lot ld the times those issues crol up and vench testing the motherboard would probably be the best bet. I'm assuming it's a board or CPU from how it behaves.

Mox - it doss actually shut down, just starts and won't display. Still a bench test and thumb stick boot may help

    Square one idea.???

New MB/bios battery?, reset the bios (battery install might do it), 1 monitor , will it boot into Bios?

Already attempted this, both battery change and CMOS reset jumper briged to reset Bios.

no change in condition after either.

PC starts and screen is black but on. Will not boot to bios.

  11. Hey everybody. Going to copy my post submitted to a tech help forum the other day.

PC has been inop for about 2 weeks.

Pc turns on but won't display/boot fully. Monitors turn on but stay black.

Tried 4 different monitors with various cables on all GPu and moBo ports

    Vga troubleshoot light on

Brand new 3060ti failed to resolve- issue replicates on original 1070 as well

Pcie power pins all testing good volts

No bad grounds from dmm testing board or PCIE connectors

Pc also will not boot fully/display to any monitor when run off mobo slots/graphics w/ gpu disconnected

    CMOS reset failed to resolve

New ram sticks failed to resolve

Here are bulld specs : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ct4jvn

My best guess is CPU is dead or some sort of motherboard issue?

I'm about ready to just buy a pre-built and swap my memory drives and the new CPU I acquired to test if I'm unable to resolve this weekend

Any advice or ideas would be appreciated, I simply cannot continue to have an inop PC while In school, especially with parts of my income relying on video editing etc
