S! All, Upcoming server upgrade, Starting at 12:01am CDT on Wednesday, March 30, we will be shutting down all hardware in Dallas in order to move it to new physical cabinets in the same building. This will cause some downtime for your service, which we will limit as much as possible but may last more than an hour.

Added Gotha and HP to FiF practice. Did traditional air start but moved it higher to 3500 m. Gotha is ok and can climb a little. HP will hold at that height but takes some active stick work. Also added both as ground take off. These are not the RoF planes. At ground level they can take off and actually climb.

S! All, Dry run this Saturday at the usual time. Game set up is the even map. Temperature is 12 degrees centigrade. Wind is from 020 degrees at 3 m/sec. Light clouds at 1300 m.

S! All We have been working on FiF 2022. Plane set is yet to be finalized. You may have seen FiF practice mission on the JG1 Server. When you joined, all you saw was a black screen. That is because we have been working on a new map. To see the new map you need to download a folder and place it into your dogfight folder. This folder contains the map texture files. These files give us a NML, and airfields all over the map where you can safely land. There are plenty of places to land to pick up the Spy, the General and do prison rescue. The prison model has been updated to look like a prison. The other thing is that when you extract the file, it sometimes put the fifk folder inside another fifk folder. Make sure it's: X:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Multiplayer\Dogfight\fifk\[contents] On map notice red arrow. Now, Front Line Recon discovers enemy tanks approaching a city. Your city. You must destroy 4 enemy tanks to complete mission. If even 1 gets to destination, the mission is failed. Takes tanks about 20 minutes. Just stopping tanks is not enough. They must be destroyed. You get a point for killing all four. No points for enemy if you fail. Replaces old Trench attack mission. Any plane with bombs can attack tanks. No need for special trench attack plane. Yes. This is the Kuban map. fifk.zip

The purpose of FiF or any combat flight sim is just that - to offer the opportunity for air combat. The winner is the team that works together and has great skills ,,, and a little luck. Attrition works if both sides take out targets and are equally weakened. When the attrition is unequal, one team can be put into a hole that they can not come back from. That is where you need to have a handle on victory conditions. You have to be able to achieve a victory before one side is too demoralizes that they stop playing. Attrition also creates a new level of game play. You are now dependent on the General to have a great plan. Someone will figure out which target or sequence will game the game. You have to be very careful in designing this type of scenario. It can be done. It is just a bit more involved.

S! All This week is session three. Start times are same as last week. Attention! Red team is now Central and Blue team is Entente.

S! All Thanks for helping on Dry Run. Several problems were identified and corrected. A few other things were modified to use fewer complex triggers. It should run smoother.

Thanks all Fixed bridges. Fixed the factory 1 floating buildings. Changed aerodrome icon to Building Icon labeled Aerodrome. Will do new maps. At this time Icons remain on the map after object destroyed.

S! All Getting ready for The event. Recent updates to fix the Damage Model in Flying Circus means we will try using FC for the event. While RoF offers more planes and maps, FC is seen as the future of WW I flight sims. Calendar will be posted soon. Expect a test run in two weeks. A sample mission is running on the JG1 server. Rotaries did not go away. With better metals for cooling, rotaries became radials. It is the exact same mechanical design only the body of the engine is bolted to the plane and the prop is on the crank shaft. Over the years new valve arrangements were developed.

S! All We are heading into the final two sessions. We will be switching sides. Blue team will be Entente and red team will be Central.

S! All Update on Phase B session 2. Rule : "The bombing of Icon targets may only be performed by two-seater aircraft that have been designated as a "bomber". Bombers may drop ordinance on any ground target. This includes factories, shops, bridges, ships, supply convoys, supply trains and special airfields to attack." Red team used an arty spot plane and not a bomber to bomb the factory. The factory mission has been removed from Red team score.
