I was going through the JG1 server logs and found

"A DDoS attack against a customer in Chicago was large enough to cause problems for Internap, which in turn caused problems for customers a short while ago, leading to about 60 seconds of detectable packet loss. The target customer IP address has been null-routed for a period of time to mitigate the attack.

Update @ 11:36pm CDT: Another attack against the same customer caused the same problem after this 8-hour null-route expired. The system issued a new null-route automatically. We have also increased the default null-route length to reduce collateral damage from these repeat attacks further."

A bad connection or server problems may be an attack instead.

Why can't people just be nice? sigh

Some things not listed in the FiF description.

FiF is designed for each team to have a possibility of 10 objectives in a semi realistic environment. To help with re-playibility many targets are randomly selected from a pool of 2 or 4. At the beginning of the session, the game announces what targets are active. That list repeats every 8 minutes after take off time. As secondary objectives become available, they are added to the list.

While some targets are identified with Icons on the map, secondary targets are identified by a text message from Waldo or Otto. Those messages last 15 seconds and then are added to the repeating list.

Some targets are hidden and must be found. The recon objective is one. You have to look for and find a U shaped set of hangars. Each side has 4 sets. Only 1 is active. The active 1 has an AA truck in the center as an Identifier. You must have the photo option and be in a plane named "recon".  You will get the usual interface. While the Icon targets have an odd or even position as displayed on the maps, recon targets are moved to new positions for every session.

Other hidden targets can be trains, tank convoys on roads or ships moving on rivers. These are targets of opportunity. The list of what targets are available changes from one FiF to another depending on the availability of the roads and rivers.  The list of available targets is updated in the maps and objectives section of the forums.

Target defense is intended to be a threat but not a determining factor. All AA is set to the lowest AI level. Most targets have a single AA unit.

Aerodrome attack objective has 4 airplanes that must be destroyed. It has a single AA unit 500 m to 1000 m. The AA does not need to be destroyed but can be killed and will not re-spawn.

Vehicle units and tank units consist of either 3 tanks or 3 trucks and an AA truck mixed in with them. These are usually spread around a warehouse area. These AA guns must be destroyed. They do not re-spawn.

Factories have 2 AA trucks. One on either side of the factory at a distance of 500 m to 1000 m. These do not need to be destroyed. They can be killed but can re-spawn. Because of the limitations of the plane set we are not doing high level bombing of factories. Factories can be bombed at low level. We will return to high level bombing on the next FiF.

Balloons offer no radar. They do fire flares. Balloons are protected by 2 AA trucks. One on either side at a distance of about 1000 m.

Air bases used by players are surrounded by 6 AA trucks. It is possible to attack enemy players on a home field but it is VERY dangerous. Player bases are not targets because that goes against the purpose of the event. Unlike open events, here, planes are limited and players are restricted to specific bases and unable to change bases except under certain conditions. Killing an enemy air base prevents pilots from flying. We want people to be able to fly and have fun. (and if you are Entente, to die a miserable death in a flaming coffin.)

Front line trenches are protected by a low level AA fence. The fence is just under 1000 m. Below this altitude, it gets progressively more dangerous. The fence does not end at the border of the area of influence (the red and blue areas on the map). Outside of the areas of influence there are scattered AA trucks similar to balloon defense. They are a threat but not killers. Their purpose it to help defenders spot an enemy intrusion.

That will be a grand day out. Good to make memories with your Dad.

The Belle was on display at Mud Island for a while. When I saw here there, they were gathering funds for repairs and a better home.  I never realized that the control surfaces were cloth covered or that the skin was so thin that you could almost poke a pencil through it.

    Have fun.

RAC_Shnoze_Shmon noticed a problem with the messages for the spy objective. It was giving secondary target info but not the green completed subtitle. It was giving neither message in the repeating listing of completed objectives.

This was happening on the FiF open mission on the JG1 server. It could not be reproduced on the test mission or the official versions for the tournament. We asked our HAL 9000 computer do a diagnostic. The results were that the squirrel was nuts.

We quickly sent the HAL 9000 to a mission on Jupiter so we could get to the bottom of this. After repeated testing, modification and more testing, the fault was found in a counter in the tally system for mission objectives. A counter had been set at the number "2" instead of "1". Since this error was not in the tournament versions, this probably happened when changing the program from tournament to open. When converting to open server play, several timers and objects are changed or removed. Many conditionals are changed as well.  Spy objective tally should not have been one of them.

This error took 2 days of intense investigation to track down. If anyone sees anything out of order or suspicious, please post here so that it can be investigated as soon as possible.

Many thanks to Shnoze for all the hard work and effort.

  5. Geneva Convention gives humanitarian commendation to Germany.

Documents show that some of the survivors of this attack were in such horrible condition that they could not be saved. They would have suffered for hours before dying. The Humane Germans performed "Mercy Killings" to save these people from such a miserable and tortured death.

After running out of bullets they had to use their bayonets.

There will be a short delay in hostilities. No mission for July 2 cnd. Hostilities should resume July 9th.

During this time, people from the Geneva convention will be inspecting the damage to a Hospital, convent and orphanage that was bombed. In the wreckage were fragments with "Vickers" stamped on them. This could bode bad for the British.

That the Germans were using the orphans and nuns as slave labor to produce artillery shells around the clock has no bearing on this.

Everything, yes everything is half price at RoF store.

All maps, planes, weapons mods, scarfs and personal packs 50 % off through June 30 th.

    50% off?

    yes, everything at half price.

How much is half a Ruble?

I'll get back to you on that.

I think this is a point of view problem.

Anyone been to the Air and Space museum in Washington D.C.? They have what looks like an arcade game where you try and land on a moving carrier that has an angled deck. NOT the easiest thing to do.

The Russian Military Historical society asked 777 "what can you do with the IM for us in a way that would be open to the general public?"  The model was built by a community member and only slightly modified by 777. 777 modded the controls on a few planes so you could fly them with a mouse.  They used mostly spare parts,  slapped this together and shoved it out the door.  Kinda like the Porsche 924. It was the best Audi Porsche ever made out of a used Volkswagen. The only Porsche parts were the seats.

The IM is not for RoF. Although I would like to see the plane in the air, I will not buy the game.  Game? In this day and age, it sounds more like an I-phone app.

The Hanriot is supposed to be out in July. Sure hope they  do a paint pack. RoF will have no other development until BoS is up and Running. Eventually they will retrofit some BoS things to RoF. BOLO for RoF 2. Present RoF people will be allowed to upgrade for a small barrel of Rubles. Otherwise it will be sold for about $60.

Not a good outlook at all.

I do not believe BoS will ever have the capabilities in the mission building department to be used for Ghost skies. CloD has much better prospects.

Eye candy alone does not a good flight sim make.  CSF 1,2,3  , European Air war

    Agree...

In my opinion, RoF expire after the release Hanriot. A year there is no effort to improve RoF. Although Williams claimed at the beginning of the RoF would not have to work BoS, the opposite is true, and he let this great simulator to die. RoF was last year alive thank to community, not for 1C, 777 or Jason Williams.

About the new game Ilja Muromec... Hm, I think that for the players from RoF is stupid to buy this product IM when they get only one new aircraft from eight (seven are from "old" Rise of Flight). Because they already have all other types. Overall, it seems to me that it is only pulling money from players.

To tell you the truth, I'm starting to have serious concerns about the BoS too. For a few weeks should be out OpenBeta - but BoS is not yet in a condition that he not be identified either as prealfa. I never thought that it ever say this, but thank God (and the Team Fusion) for IL2: COD. And if i close one eye - for DCS too.

    +1 on everything

  10. S!

JG1 Server and sometimes No.42 server are running "England Invaded". This is an open server version. No 15 minute wait time and some additional planes. Target list repeats every 8 minutes and no limit on planes.

  11. S!

    Famous last words.

JG1 will eventually have a website, not just a forum. We have had a website in the past. Recently we had some minor problems and some changes. The goal is to give every pilot a place for his avatar, biography and a medal display area. Would be nice to have a picture of your favorite plane. In the distant past each pilot had a flight log of the dates of combat, the target achieved or the plane type and name of the pilot that he killed.

In the mean time, CONTATZ  to all that participated in Bloody April 4.

    It  was loads of fun.

    RoF sale :)

50% off for 2 weeks. Sale ends May 8th. Do not wait till then as it will probably end at midnight Moscow time, which is middle of the day in North America.

Now is the time to pick up those few planes you might not have as well as some gun mods and field mods.

    enjoy
