Regarding the video, I think Miss Helen was having engine trouble and performed an emergency landing in a field.  Watch for the prop strike at the end (~23 seconds).

 

 

I wonder why he chose the infield instead of the great big paved runway?

And I wonder what went through his mind at that bounce! That's gotta get your heart racing at least a little.

Yeah, especially since it didn't happen immediately upon wheels down.

 

It's got to be about 2 seconds after touchdown - just enough time to think you're okay, until you're not.

I'd guess engine problem on take-off.  Quick 180 doesn't line you up with the runway, you are off to the side.  Infield likely his only option, and he just made it.

Turns out he was on final and had engine problems.  He was aiming for a grass strip and came up short, hitting the lip of the raised taxiway:

G-BIXL was on a final approach to land on a grass runway when the engine began to run roughly. The pilot advanced the throttle which led to a marked reduction in power. The aircraft touched down on the grass short of the runway but was forced back into the air when it crossed the lip of a raised taxiway. During the following touchdown and deceleration, the left main gear was damaged and the propeller hit the ground before the aircraft came to a halt. The cause of the rough running and power loss was not positively determined at the time of publication of this report.

Wow, you're right.  I never noticed the raised lip until you posted the accident report.
