For anyone who's ever been curious about what exactly a "German Army Report" is supposed to be, it's basically our fictionalized "First World War" version of a Wehrmachtbericht.

What's a Wehrmachtbericht?

During the Second World War, the German military would send out daily radio reports called Wehrmachtberichte.  And these would inform the public about the state of fighting on all fronts.  Basically, it's a form of propaganda.  So, to have your unit, or your personal name, mentioned in one of these radio reports was considered a high honor.  Hence the merit award.

Our WW1 "German Army Report" also takes some inspiration from the British MiDs (mentioned in dispatches), which is where your name would be published, and you would receive a small certificate for your gallant or meritorious action.  Hence, the image above.
