DCG 3.49 Open Beta Test

Thank you for the latest beta. I'll provide some feedback as soon as I  can.

 

EDIT: It does work, provided that there is no "timetable off" command in the timetable.dcg. Thank you once again.

 

I get a strange error though. Any idea why a campaign resets and starts from the beginning after it has reached its end date?

Never mind me, I screwed up the grandcampaign file. Now it's working correctly. My only slight complaint is that TCapture doesn't work with locations designated as Front but I can always change that manually through the program itself.

 

Thanks once again, your continued support over the years is most appreciated.

Modified how "TCapture Contested" works.  If you use this timetable command, the front will switch to this location.  Therefore, you can move the front to a new location on the same day you have either the Allieds or Axis capture the front location

 

For example:

  19410806 TCapture Contested Border_Village
  19410806 TCapture Axis Front_Village

Latest beta (lucky 13) tweaks how human and AI squadrons work in MDS mode.  Now if you set a squadron to "Human Only", it should not spawn AI planes.

 

Also added ability for a user to create a de_names.dat file to replace the default German pilot names.  For details, see:

Does this work for other nationalites? Would gb_names.dat work for the British?

No change. Sorry Sir. The issue with the Polish tank not spawning if it's column appears as static isn't fixed...

I'm just amazed people are still using it after all these years.  :)

 

More amazing that you still stick around to support it after all these years.

Imo, there's not much point to IL-2 without a DCG campaign, especially for offliners.  A dynamic and flexible "big picture" adds immeasurable depth and immersion to the sim.  Thank you.

Attached is the latest beta.  This one should improve the chances of player squadrons staying on carriers both between missions and when their carrier is lost.  In both cases, they should transfer to another available carrier.

 

At least in theory that's how it should work. ;)

DCG campaigns using the Tobruk map (for example) are playable without the friction option but so difficult than even some AIs (all AIs are average in my own DCG campaigns) crash at take off...

I think that with the right friction setting it'll be more realistic.
