The Hunt for the Red Eagle Continues!

That was a great movie, it really shows what teamwork in RoF on TS looks like. If I were to show someone what am I doing with my evenigs, I would probably choose this movie now. Or show someone how to fly a Spad in knifefight.

(And I must make sure Marx, Drookasi and Mr Tree - trio of my Kameraden who starred as villains in 10th  minute ;) - watch it as well.)

Salute!

There are areas I can improve, too. I should have been far more suspect of the DFW and alert for escorts. I shouldn't have let Maus go after it with me out of position and I couldn't effectively check for escorts without making myself further out of position. We may have been able to down all 3 had I pulled him back and regrouped. Certainly would have had a better chance at getting us both home alive and in our crates.

At any eate, we did pretty well and I'm proud of how we handled the first engagement as a pair.

Maybe so, but in the context of FiF, it was immediately important to stop that DFW from destroying the barge target.  The sacrifice necessary to do that becomes apparent very quickly in the video.  I don't think either of you are to blame when it comes to not seeing the Albs that were high above, hidden in your wing; it's not as if you didn't take a careful look around (I saw you do that).

As we all can see, the DFW was only able to destroy his target in the last few seconds of your sortie, after he had been hit hard by Maus; it's entirely possible he might have been damaged to the point of not being able to continue his mission successfully.

I don't advocate suicide, but that doesn't qualify as suicide or even poor judgment.  It's just the fighter spirit that keeps our squad on top.

S! Maus and Barton!

It was important to stop the DFW, but we failed to do that. I'd have let him get the barge if it meant downing 3 more pilots from the other team. It took him 3 passes as it was. If we could have engaged the fighters together and at least separated them from the DFW if not destroyed them, it could have been possible to kill him before he got the barge. As it is, all we did was lose 2 planes and a pilot. If Mr. Tree had been a bit more accurate with his shots he could easily have sent me down with Maus without me ever seeing him. Even if we didn't shoot anyone down but both got home safe having Maus available to possibly fly a bomber could have allowed us to get that factory, and maybe more, which would have us only down by 1 point instead of two.

Ultimately, my own streak means less to me if I allow others to die when I could have prevented it.

Uhmm  Blue team is ahead by 2

I didn't mean for that to sound arrogant, I meant figuratively, not literally....I sort of forgot this is a public thread too........no offense was meant to the other side.  Your best friends are always the guys you're flying with at the time, and that even includes loyalty, I find.  Everybody on both teams is doing an exceptional job, and this is the result we have right now, and I would never complain about our situation considering how often and how long the Blue team suffered a disadvantage of numbers.  I think it's great that the score is this close after all these weeks; and I gotta say I'm having a helluva lotta fun, and I hope everybody else is too.

S! Everybody!
