Vonrd
Trying to attach images from Dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/eb4ahn9bzcnftlk/2018_1_1__21_1_55.bmp?dl=0 Edit: How do I get the image to show?
Kliegmann
You have to change the pic type. I think it requires that you use .Png pics

Vonrd
Will do if I have to but dropbox was working previously and I'd like to avoid the hassle of duping to another account. What's the size limit of files here? Maybe file too large?

Klaiber
In order to get the dropbox image to show, you have to change "www" to "dl". And then put it in image brackets. So, from this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s18yhoqr77dsdl8/Vonrd%201.jpg?dl=0 To this: [img=https://dl.dropbox.com/s/s18yhoqr77dsdl8/Vonrd%201.jpg?dl=0] As for the bmp error, I'm not sure why it won't allow it. There is no reason a bmp image shouldn't work. I'll check the forum settings. Lipfert

IRFC Hawkeye
Go to "Img Safe" free image hosting: https://imgsafe.org/ You don't need to log in or have an account, unless you want to find your images later (I never do) Browse files or drag them onto the upload page: Click on the thumbnail to go to it's location. Then right-click on the image, and "Copy image address". Use the "Image" tool on the forum toolbar: Paste the image URL in the dialog box (right-click, "paste") : Image appears at the cursor location in the forum message box: Ta-Da! Vonrd
So here's another bmp image: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eb4ahn9bzcnftlk/2018_1_1__21_1_55.bmp?dl=0 but when i compose it as you show I get this error: You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community. but what's weird is if I just copy and paste the address from what you have above (after "To this:") the image is visible. Klaiber
I think bmp's are bugged for some reason. They're allowed on the forums, but I just can't figure out why they're not showing. I'd try to use PNG or JPG if you can.
IRFC Hawkeye
Open it in Paint, and reduce the size. Supposed to be less than 20 MB, but I think sometimes it's better to keep it around 10 or so. Save the file as a .jpg in Paint also. Technically you don't have to, but .bmp's are a lot bigger than a .jpg, for the same size picture. Just save it that way to your desktop temporarily or where ever, post it via ImgSafe, then trash it....keep your original for working with. That error message generally means it's too big. But I think at times, the servers are really busy and things get slowed down. I notice this over the holidays, but after reducing size I had no problem. Also, try uploading and posting one picture at a time only. You can keep your message open on a separate tab, and keep adding the pics from another tab, one at a time. Seems to avoid problems. S! Vonrd
Same image, .jpg 122kb from Img Safe... same error : An error occurred You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community. Is it something with my permission settings on the server?
Klaiber
I'm sorry that you're having such troubles. Could you send me the link to the jpg image you're trying to post? I can then try it out, and see what happens. As I've said before, the bmp thing is a known issue. I can't even get them to work. But jpgs should work no problem. You have nothing on your forum account that limits your ability to hotlink images from dropbox or another file hosting website. We'll squash this eventually.
