Indy Car?

INDYCAR, LLC, is an American-based auto racing sanctioning body for Indy car racing and other disciplines of open wheel car racing. The organization sanctions five racing series: the premier IndyCar Series with its centerpiece the Indianapolis 500, developmental series Indy Lights, the Indy Pro 2000 Championship and the U.S. F2000 National Championship, which are all a part of The Road To Indy & the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup. IndyCar is recognized as a member organization of the FIA through ACCUS.

The sanctioning body was formed in 1994 under the name Indy Racing League by Hulman & Company, which also owned the Indianapolis Motor Speedway complex, and began competition in 1996. The trademark name INDYCAR was officially adopted on January 1, 2011. The sport of open-wheel car racing itself, also historically referred to as Championship Car racing or Indy racing, traces its roots to as early as 1905. It is the fifth major sanctioning body to govern the sport of Indy car racing, following AAA, USAC, CART, and Champ Car.

Today, Roger Penske via Penske Entertainment Corp a subsidiary of Penske Corporation owns IndyCar. Penske purchased IndyCar and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from Hulman & Co. in November 2019.

For 1996–1997, the series was simply referred to as the Indy Racing League. For 1998–1999, the series garnered its first title sponsor, and was advertised as the Pep Boys Indy Racing League. In 2000, the series sold its naming rights to Internet search engine Northern Light, and the series was named the Indy Racing Northern Light Series.

The IndyCar Series name was officially adopted beginning in 2003, as the series was now legally entitled to use it due to the expiration of a 1996 legal settlement with CART. The series began to progressively downplay the former IRL name, changing its name to simply IndyCar for the 2008 season. Izod was announced as the series title sponsor beginning on November 5, 2009. Izod ended its sponsorship after the 2013 season.

In 2014, Verizon Communications became title sponsor of the series through 2018. In January 2019, it was announced that Japanese communications company NTT would become title sponsor and official technology partner of the IndyCar Series.

The series' premier event is the Indianapolis 500.

Chassis

2018–present

The 2017 season was the third and final year contested with the Chevrolet and Honda aero kits outfitted to the Dallara DW12 chassis. Beginning in 2018, all DW12 Safety Cell chassis were fitted with a universal bodywork kit. Digital renderings for the common bodywork kit, referred to as the 'IR18' car, were released in early May 2017. The car was officially unveiled in late July, and the universal aero kit became known as the UAK18 bodywork.

The bodywork is inspired by CART's 1990s and 2000s designs, with a more streamlined appearance. The redesigned aero kit reduces both aerodynamic downforce and team and manufacturer design development costs. The universal Aero Kit was designed without the wheel guards of the DW12 chassis, which were deemed ineffective and proved prone to breaking. The IR-18 also lacks an air inlet above the cockpit, a first for an IndyCar Series chassis (most Champ Car chassis had been designed that way). The new Aero Kit also has fewer small aerodynamic pieces that can become broken or dislodged, with the intent to reduce the amount of debris that ends up on the track and expenses from repairs.

These cars wicked fast and don't have a wide grip window. The pace spread is going to be large and the races difficult based on tonight's practice. I'm guessing 1:04-1:05's frontal race pace and 1:06-1:08 for mid pack. Laguna Seca is really short and condensed and super narrow so everybody should just aim to keep it on the black top the whole time; slower and clean is faster than going off.

So me and Scotty (2Old4Forza) were discussing the cars after race and the fueling issue. And we both think that the fueling time - not necessarily the fuel burn - is the issue. Just like with the Legends cars, I can change things like how long the fuel and tires take based on some data from real life race footage if you guys would like me too.

For example: Faster fuel fill (closer to time to change tires) would make it so people didn't have to sit in the pit so much, but you could still do either a 2-stop or fuel conserve for a 1-stop strategy depending on the road course. Things like that. I can have this ready by Tuesday to test throughout the week if the organizers are interested in it.

Ted,

Scott told me about this, so proceed please! If it isn't ready by Monday, (Enough time to get it to everyone), we still have 6 races!

Thanks for your efforts!!!

Affirm, I'll start watching some Indy races and timing pit stops today, hopefully will have it by later this week! :D

Edit 3: See post bellow for updated versions - they should be a direct drag-and-drop for those using content manager mod launcher. All skins as of 09/15/2020 installed and fuel/tire change rates corrected!

Checking on the Modding forum I learn from. Apparently Content Manager has a de-encryption feature, but it's not showing up for me when working on the cars. Will keep looking into it.

Edit: I have the files unpacked and I'm working on new league editions now. Will upload when finished as .rar archives so people can just drag and drop them to install. I have left the fuel consumption the way it is to promote multiple strategies/stop amounts based on consumption differences between drivers. The Pit stop times have changed, though. I've reduced the fueling time from 1.7 Sec/L to 0.13 Sec/L in order to reduce the fueling time to within normal parameters of the real life cars. Tire change has also been reduced to 9 seconds. I took these times based off watching the 2019 Indy 500 Pit stop competition for tires and the 2020 In-race stops for fuel.
