Perhaps I should have written this earlier.  If youre looking at getting into WWII, and youre limited to one or 2 modules, I would suggest above all Stalingrad.  The reason I say this is the aircraft in Stalingrad have crossovers from the earlier Moscow into the Stalingrad.  Namely, for our Squadron and tourneys, the 109 F4, Ju-87 (which actually has 1941 -1943 versions available) and the He111 H6.  This one module can carry a pilot through the first 2 tourney campaigns, and possibly into a third.

I would suggest Bodenplatte as the secondary considering how popular late war scenarios are in multiplayer servers, especially Combat Box.  Though Stalingrad will still get you planes usable on the axis side even in those servers.

So although I missed the end of the Steam sales for collector aircraft, I noticed the 1C website itself is still discounting products. I added the Po-2, Ju-52 and D-9 FW to my cart. The thing is it says "keyless non-steam product". Can I not use these wth the Steam edition?

@Vogel

In order to use them with the steam edition you must have Staligrad on steam.  I have Stalingrad and Moscow through Steam everything else is through the website. Works fine and it updates through Steam so I don't have to do anything.

DCS on the other hand you can only use one or the other. There was some crossover back in the day but that has ended.

Ok, I've got all the expansions and base game on Steam. If I buy the collector planes on the 1C site do they automatically go over to my Steam version?

Yes and no. You will be able to play everything that you bought. Steam will update the game as normal because all the planes are there all ready they just need to be purchased before they are unlocked for you. The only thing is in your Steam account when you go to the store page. It will show only the purchases you made from Steam. So be careful in the future when there is a sale on Steam that you don't buy something you own all ready.

The first time I bought 1 collector plane just to make sure it worked. I buy all my planes from IL2 now that way I can fly the planes before they are released to Steam.

Thanks. I got the Ju-52, PO-2 and FW-190 D-9, PO-2 is just nuts... pre-take off check list is pretty short lol. Brakes? Flaps? Trim? Nope, none of that. Just put throttle up and fly comrade.

Would be nice to fly the Ju-52 with a few people sometime and do some mass paratrooper drops :).
