Greetings to you and in specific, to Klaiber, CO of JG1 Richthofen! Thanks for stopping by our site and the kind invitation to 'fun fly' with you! Our CO, No.42_Flatspin replied to you asking for a week or so until we complete our current training and coordination effort. We hope this is the start of many good times and we look forward to getting to know you all!

A little more about us:

We are so new....the paint isn't dry yet but:

We are a squadron of pilots with varied experiences. Some of us are new and some of us have flight experiences from other Flight Sims such as RB3D, IL-2 and others. Several of us still fly IL-2 1946. We currently have 14 active pilots. We are affiliated with the historical No.42 Squadron by name only. Our game play spreads throughout the war years.

We use Teamspeak and have a Teamspeak server. We have our own Dedicated Online Server called: No.42 Squadron - Canvas, the Early Years - 1916-17 with a stats page. We're still developing our server maps. We fly officially on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, 8PM EDT but you may see one or more of us up on other nights.

Our command structure consists of: a CO, XO and 3 Flight Leaders for each of our major combat divisions: scout-fighter, attack-fighter and level bombing. Entente is our preference.

Regards,

Hi Duff,

Thanks for stopping by! Really glad to hear that you guys are interested in a "fun fly". Definitely take as much time as you need to coordinate things on your end. I know you guys have just set up your aerodrome. As I mentioned in the past, Mondays and Wednesdays work best for us. But we're definitely okay with another night with enough notice.

JG1 has about 22 North American pilots, and have an additional 12 European pilots. But we can probably muster somewhere around 12 to 15 for our dogfight / joint training.

Our thoughts were that this type of event would give both squadrons a great opportunity to fly against coordinate opponents in large scale actions. Currently, as I'm sure you've noticed, the full real North American servers have been a bit anemic after 6PM or 7PM EDT. So flying against each other would not only give our pilots something to look forward to, but a great experience that they may not always get.

And if you guys had a good time, it would be something that we could repeat in the future, as often as we wanted.

I'll PM you are TS3 information. Please feel free to pass this around to your guys.

Hope to talk to you more soon!

I'm looking forward to our meeting over the mud and I'm happy to start DF matches with JG1! If it works out well, I hope to develope it into something bigger...like FEOW but in our own, US-friendly timezones. Hopefully JG1 and No.42 can be plank-owners in such a venture in the near future.

Don't get me wrong, nothing like a DF mash up...but I long for the Scorched Earth Online War "feel" in a WWI sim. A real campaign blind of enemy movements with a variety of objectives. I know...I'm getting ahead of myself right?

Not at all! JG1 feels the exact same way. We have a home grown tournament called Flanders in Flames that we've run since the mid-1990s. And recreating a full blown air-war has been it's goal for a long time. So, we're definitely on board with the SEOW feel. There's something great about having sorties count for something greater, and tournaments scenarios like that definitely help to add weight to our flying time.

But as you say - "US-friendly timezones" is really key. While our Jasta 6 is European, and therefore able to take advantage of a vibrant EU community for RoF, our other Jastas are firmly North American. And the opportunities haven't been as many.

My sincere hope is that we can really build something here that can perhaps grow into something bigger.

For the time being, though, we're thrilled to have you guys on board for some fun DF / training nights. Should be a blast!

LOL! Indeed Stachl!

What say you to Wednesday the 24th? I believe Duff4r is taking point on arrangements but I think we can start then if we get all our ducks in a row before that.

Wednesday, Oct 24th should definitely work. Let's plan on that.

We should definitely meet at some point to discuss things, though.

Is there a time this week that works for you and Duff4r?
