Appall-O Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 Hello, and thanks for putting together a real dynamic campaign system for IL2 in the firstplace My problem is that in co-op campaign generator mode I can't seem to get the player pilot records to show up in the Squadron Editor. I am using the beta version but tried my old dcg345 version with the same results. I played this in the past (about 2 years ago) and remember it used to work then, but I have recently re-installed it on a new computer and am trying it anew, but now all the pilots listed in my squadron are AI pilots with no players showing. Maybe there is something I am doing wrong? Playing a co-op with a friend in the past I found it great fun to follow the progress of the player pilots (as well as the AI pilots) in my squadron, but somehow I am only getting the AI pilots to show in my squadron now. For my mode settings I am using "On-Line Co-op," "Replace career generator" and "Replace Coop campaign generator." For options I do have "Track online players" which I think should enable players to appear in my squadron records? I do have "stats reset on death" selected as well, but I do want stats for players to start over if they die so I think this is the right setting. If there is something I can do to get players to show (along with their progress/kills/rank etc) in my co-op campaign, please advise. Thanks! Quote
Lowengrin Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 That's because DCG can't store all the player stats in the pilot.dcg file. It used to, but in large online campaigns when there were large numbers of players rotating in and out of squadrons, their stats would end up getting over written as DCG could only track a maximum of 16 pilots/squadron. So now DCG will dump players into the gunners.dcg file when the player is inactive or if there are too many players in one squadron. So see if they are in there. Quote
[URU]Fox Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 I'm building a new campaign to play coop with my squad. What would be the total players limit for stats tracking in the actual version? We have guests from other squadrons playing with us, and exceed the 16 players usually. When using the gunners.dcg, the limit goes up to 32 or does it increase even more? Quote

I searched and did find the two player pilots from my campaign in the "gunner.dcg" file. Is there a way I can pull them up in DCG to view them (and their stats) in the squadron editor or in similar format to that? Quote

You could cut and paste them out of the gunner file and into the pilot file. Just over-write an AI pilot and delete the squadron info in the player's info. For example' date=' from the gunner file, delete the yellow highlighted part of this line: 000 000 001 Paul Lowengrin @[h']USN_VF_42A1 #[/h]DGen\Photo *00 &1920Unknown And paste it over an AI pilot into the squadron you want them to appear in: [uSN_VF_42A1] 000 000 001 Paul Lowengrin @DGen\Photo *00 &1920Unknown 000 000 002 Leonard March @DGen\UN\13 *40 &1911Unknown . . . I would have to check the code, but I'm pretty sure it can handle at least of 512 players. Quote
[URU]Fox Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 Thanks for the quick reply. Great news for my new project. Awesome software BTW, Paul! Quote

Thanks Paul! That fixed most of the issue. After I moved the players back to pilots, I found that at one point the in-game debriefing had stopped telling what the players had done (i.e., no "Appall-O shot down an IL-2 for his 16th kill" or such); But, playing around a bit I found that adding a ^ in front of the player pilots names in the pilot.dcg file fixed this. Things work fine now, tracking my pilot deeds both in the in-game debriefing and in the dcg squadron editor Here is an example of the final format of my player pilots in the pilot.dcg file: ^ 019 000 009 Appall-O @DGen\Photo *00 &1920Unknown Thanks again for the dynamic campaign and help, having lots of fun progressing through the campaign in co-op mode and tracking kills and such Quote
