Glider Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Is it possible to edit the formation that Carriers take? DCG is placing them very close together and we would like to spread the out to a more realistic distance. Can/how do you edit the default ships speed? Bomb fusing- when you select the low level fuse the shortest delay that can be set is 11 seconds. Typically we use a 4 second delay. Can this be edited somewhere? Some of the missions will require us to open them in FMB and save them before it will load. Otherwise it shows the mission loading but then never does nor will it transfer to the other players. Our group is new to using DCG but from what we have seen so far (been playing around with it for a week now) this is an outstanding program. Our squad has been around a long time and had been using SEOW but now that we are finding no one to fly against we are trying to get a good campaign to use against AI opposition. Currently running a manual coop DCG using IL2 v 4.11.1 and HSFX 6.01. Thanks guys and we look forward to getting the most out of DCG!! http://www.airgroup51.net AG-51 Glider Quote

You should load ships through timetable commands like here: 19401019 SetTaskForceSpeed Allied = 25 19401019 DeployDistance Allied = 2000 19401019 NewColumn 31_Chief Ships.HMSIllustriousCV 1 @P2_Sea $HMS_Illustrious ~A ... Glider Posted November 10, 2013 Author Report Posted November 10, 2013 Thanks Sniperton!! Actually I read how to do the timetable. Question though... do I have to set a timetable value for every mission or just the initial one? Another question- when I go into the columns file i try to change one of the carriers to a different type. When I save ot and then reopen the file it goes back the original boat. In this case I am trying to change the Generic US carrier to the Intrepid. Quote
ColHut Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Another option for spacing would be to stagger their arrival if using sea routes (.srd ) rather than patrols and have them a leg apart. You can even make loops with the sea routes so they don't go away. When I save ot and then reopen the file it goes back the original boat. In this case I am trying to change the Generic US carrier to the Intrepid. Do you mean between generating campaigns or between missions, and are you trying to change the name or the type?. If between campaigns then you need to edit the master mission file. If you just want to edit the name then use the shipnames files or through a timetable command. regards Wol Quote
sniperton Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 What units you'll have in a campaign depends primarily on your master mission file (say, guadal43.mis). It's a sort of template or setup file for your whole campaign mission. If it has a Generic Carrier, you can change it to the Intrepid in the FMB, and the next time you start that campaign you'll have the Intrepid instead. You can also add units there. Another way to add units is through timetable commands. They're 'timed' commands, meaning that they will be executed only when the mission for that date is generating. So if you don't want the Intrepid to be available from the first day, load it with an appropriate (later) date. With timetable commands, you can manipulate (add, rename, remove) units mid-campaign. So if you're on 4 June campaignwise, add a command for the NEXT day, and the command will be executed when DCG advances to the next day (i.e. you completed the mission for 4 June). Quote
Glider Posted November 10, 2013 Author Report Posted November 10, 2013 Thanks guys I really appreciate your help. I am reading through Tailspins guide as well. Any ideas on the fuse delay question as to why it defaults to 11 sec and won't let us select a shorter time? Quote
Lowengrin Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 There's nothing in DCG to set fuse delay so it must be a game default. Anyone know where the fuse delay is coded??? Quote
Glider Posted November 11, 2013 Author Report Posted November 11, 2013 Well I had a couple of things that were going on. Now that they are fixed the fuse issue has also gone away. Thanks for your assistance!! Has anyone made a Solomons Campaign? Quote
