johnnycolt Posted April 2, 2016 Report Posted April 2, 2016 Dear All, I have been trying to get the DCG Carrier Operations 1941-1945 campaign to work with DCG3.48. However, every time i start a new campaign, both USN as IJN, the aircraft start on an airstrip instead of an aircraft carrier. I used to play this campaign with DCG 3.47, but that version i cant find anywhere. Can someone supply me with DCG 3.47 or have a fix for this problem? Many thanks in advance, Johnnycolt Quote
Lowengrin Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Would you believe I don't have a backup of 3.47... Hopefully Lonestar will appear and be able to confirm if he's having this problem with 3.48 too. Quote
Lonestar Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Yes, have the same problem . . . After some testing with final 3.48 no aircraft of both sides (player or Ai squads) start at the beginning of the first mission on a carrier! Although all carriers are in the right place (.prd or .srd) in the .mis file of the first created mission, they not appear in the Squad editor panel of DCG under "airfield/carriers" as a selection! Also the timetable "movesquad" command has no effect at least in my campaign (DBW modded 4.10m)! I must admit i use 3.48 final the first time (still have 3.47, I mail you a link to the .exe for comparison)! Short question, what has the carscolumn.dcg file for a task? Quote
Lowengrin Posted April 4, 2016 Report Posted April 4, 2016 I suspect changes made to how ships are classified may have impacted your campaign. If you named ships through the timetable.dcg, the names must also be in the shipnames.dcg file or else DCG won't identify them properly. And if you're using a mod with new ships, they need to be added into that file and given a classification. The carscolumn.dcg allows modders to specify what a car column can do - resupply/repair or be mobile artillery (right now oil does nothing). Quote
Lonestar Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 It seems when i try to include for both sides carriers via timetable into a .srd route with there squads, DCG ignore it! All carriers are in the right place but not the squads! But sometimes it works, mostly when only one carrier is in that misson or the squad has the same hardcoded ID as the carrier like VB6 to Carrier Enterprise! Also sometimes one carrier is available in the "airfield/carrier" selection of the Squad editor panel when the squad starts from an airfield (off map or regular) after the first mission is created! If carriers are in the .mis file and DCG place them without timetable commands into a .prd route all works fine! The Squads of both sides are on there carriers in the first mission! I personally use mostly .srd routes for carriers because this route is more flexibel and you can put more ships in it, without the risk that they can collide with each other! Thanks for your time! Lowengrin Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 Strange. I've been working on a Solomons '42 campaign where I have USMC squadrons starting on an escort carrier that uses the .srd rather than .prd and it works fine. For example: [uSMC_VMSB_232z00] Planes 3 Skill 1 Class air.SBD3 Fuel 100 weapons default[uSMC_VMSB_232z00_Way] TAKEOFF 792845.36 17521.60 0 0 5_Chief 0 &0 NORMFLY 766061.54 20306.79 500.00 300.00 &0 . . . [Chiefs] 0_Chief Vehicles.M3A1_APC 1 1_Chief Vehicles.Kurogane 2 2_Chief Ships.IJNYukikazeDD41 2 0 2 1.0 3_Chief Ships.DaihatsuLC 2 0 0 1.0 4_Chief Ships.Tramp 1 0 2 1.0 5_Chief Ships.USSCasablancaCVE55 1 0 2 1.0 BTW, nothing wrong with your ship names as far as I can see. Lonestar Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 Paul, i have sent you a mail with the first .mis file, dcgerror file and all entries from the timetable of the coral sea subcampaign for the usn! Quote
Lowengrin Posted April 6, 2016 Report Posted April 6, 2016 I sat down with all your files and made a mock campaign up with them. In the process I think I found the problem and it's in the shipnames.dcg file. You need to add all the ship names from your time table into the correct ship class area. For example, you don't have Carrier_USS_Yorktown under [USSCVGeneric] CV although this is the category you specified it under in the time table. Also, you don't have the Lexington name under it's ship class. Nor do you seem to have IJNRyujoCVL class at all in the ship name file. Quote
JG7_X_Man Posted April 6, 2016 Report Posted April 6, 2016 Lonestar - are you using the shipnames.dcg moezilla provided? Quote

It looks like there are many others i have to add from the timetable also to the shipnames.dcg . . . Thanks Paul! @x man No, but its not the problem! The ships class is hardcoded but not the shipnames, they are free given! Trying to say I must add all my free given shipnames with the related class from the timetable also to the shipnames.dcg, no matter which file i currently use! And I still use 4.10 DBW, maybe some classes have changed till then . . . Quote
