How to Show Country Markings on Aircraft
Lowengrin replied to WindWeapon's topic in DCG Public Discussion
Excellent! -
I'm going to guess it's because you don't have pilot images matching the generic lists. I just noticed that in the "\PaintSchemes\Pilots" folder for my IL2 1946, there are no American or British pilots (for example). The good news is, you download the ones done by Elephant from www.lowengrin.com: http://www.lowengrin.com/download.php?list.9

A beta of the latest DCG is available here for those who wish to give it a try: http://members.shaw.ca/lowengrin/il2dcg347beta2.zip Please post any bugs to this list. Additions (so far) to Version 3.47 Added planes and armour for game version 4.11m. Raised cloud height to a maximum of 5000 meters. Added options for gusts and turbulence settings. Removed search routine if the time setting is normal or faster to allow carrier battles to occur if there's only one mission a day. Increased payload lengths to 40 characters. Note: After installing, remember to reset your basic options and, if using DGen or NGen Replacement modes, make sure these options are re-checked before running IL-2 Forgotten Battles, Pacific Fighters or 1946. Mods which have made changes to the event log may not work with IL2DCG.

How to Show Country Markings on Aircraft
Lowengrin replied to WindWeapon's topic in DCG Public Discussion
I hope Lonestar will answer this because I haven't a clue, sorry. -
There are two reasons this might be happening. The first is that DCG may not have properly identified which version of IL-2 you are using. Under DCG's File menu, select SET GAME VERSION and select which one you are using. If you are using any mods, that could also be the reason. There are no guarantees that DCG will work with any mods.

Some DCG Requests & Suggestions (rather long...)
Lowengrin replied to Slink's topic in DCG Feature Requests
Hi Slink, I'm estimating that you spent more time compiling your requests and suggestions than I have programming DCG since I looked at the 4.11 update. And the one thing I immediately noticed was that some of the weapon strings were longer than I'd ever seen them before. I don't often look at the SAS site unless someone steers me to something specific. I'm no longer that interested in playing IL-2 (online or off) and haven't been for some time. In fact, it's been about 5 years or so since I have played it beyond testing DCG generated missions and for the past couple years, it's been more about maintaining DCG than it has about expanding it's functions and features. Note that I said "more about" because occasionally something does catch my interest and I do modify/add to the code. Some of your suggestions did catch my interest. Some are simply too complex and would require major rewrites of the code - code that is now over ten years old and horribly convoluted...not to mention terribly written in the first place. I don't have time right now to go through your post point by point, but I did read it all. Some of your suggestions may find there way into DCG (particularly if they are quick wins), but most probably will not. But I appreciate your putting them all down. -
land then normal flight waypoint generated
Lowengrin replied to slippery_jim's topic in DCG Bug Reports
Is are these missions being generated from a campaign that comes with DCG or from a 3rd party campaign? It may be that there's some extra stuff in the template file that's messing it up. Or it could just be a bug. But hell if I know why it would be tacking Chief_14 on. If it is a stock DCG campaign, which one is it and I'll try and replicate it on my end. -
I haven't seen collisions in a long time, so any mod you're using could be responsible. You can try making the patrol box bigger so the ships will change course less often. And make sure you have no slow ships in the group - if they are in front, the others may over take them. It's a shame the game doesn't make ships avoid each other and land. (Not that the planes are much good at avoiding land either).

You must use squadrons recognized as naval units by DCG. These include the USN, IJN, and FAA. DCG assumes that all other types are land-based and are being ferried so it will transfer them to land as soon as an airbase is available for them. Also, if an aircraft carrier is not activated within a patrol box, but instead is put on a sea route (.srd), it will transfer planes off when it reaches the end of the sea route. To ensure your carrier gets put in a patrol box, make sure you list all carriers BEFORE listing any other ships in the columns section of your template mission. (This will also ensure that they are in the middle of any formation). As soon as you list any transport/cargo ships, DCG assumes all ships listed after it in the template are meant to use sea routes. So a list should always start with carriers (for both sides), then their escorts, then any transport/cargo ships and then escorts for the transports. Hope this solves your problems.

This issue has been reported before unfortunately, I can't remember how it was resolved and the old forum is gone to look it up. I did check your mission file and nothing looks out of the ordinary. Hopefully someone else will post with the answer.

I'm pretty sure the full information regarding the class.dcg file is available in Tailspin's document. Check it out and if you have any more questions, let me know. But the 3rd column is nationality (in = Imperial Japanese Navy, us = USAAF, etc). The 4th column is the "side" (1 = allied, 2 = axis). The 5th column is plane "type" (1 = fighter, 2 = bomber, etc...) The 6th column is whether the plane can be flown by a human (1 = yes, 2 = no). Offline airfields are simple. You need to enter the name of the airfield in the offmap.dcg file. Otherwise you create it like any other airfield (it must have coordinates in the xxx.rds file, for example). Just don't give it the same name as some other on map airfield that's in another campaign or else bad things will happen to the on map one.

Make sure the folder that the DGen.exe file is in is not read-only. I'm guessing that's why you can't change it. Change the folder first then the file. If that isn't the problem, then try renaming the DGen.exe file to something else (say DGenX.exe) then make a copy of the DCG.exe and rename it to DGen.exe.

When you hear that "beep", generally the necessary "dgen" data file is missing. DCG is supposed to load them all when you check the "Replace Career Generator" option. It may be that DCG didn't actually load over DGEN. Check that the DGEN.exe in your IL-2 folder file is the same size as your DCG.exe file (in your DCG folder) and that you have a dgen_bak.exe file in your main IL-2 folder as well (that is a different size). If your DCG.exe and DGEN.exe are different sizes, the swap didn't work correctly. Just try unchecking and re-checking the "Replace" option again. If they still aren't the same size, check that your DGEN.exe is not set to "read only". If it is, change it to writable and try again. Also you might check that your DGEN folder in your IL-2 folder isn't set to read only. If it is, make it writable and do the "replace" option again.

Attn: Lo - How do I . . . add a custom flyable squad to DCG?

Got it, thanks! -
How do I . . . add a custom flyable squad to DCG?
Lowengrin replied to Lupus's topic in DCG Public Discussion
If your squadron is actually listed in IL-2 (that is, you can select it in the Full Mission Builder), you can add it to the squadids.dcg file in the DATA folder. (Just make a simple mission in the FMB and save it and you'll get the ID to add to.) If your squadron isn't actually listed in the FMB, you are out of luck. -
If your pilot dies and you do have the STATS RESET ON DEATH option checked, then the mission that you flew and that ended with your death is recorded and the results applied to the next mission. So, in short, you're golden.

It's more tricky with the Ju-88 as the game treats it as a dive-bomber. With it, I'm afraid you'll just have to experiment. Maybe the mods can trick it into behaving like a level-bomber. Certainly you can set it to a level bomber in DCG so DCG creates missions for it that way; but whether it behaves like one would be anyone's guess.
-
Yes, you can just switch it over to the He-111. DCG will create missions specific for it as a level bomber so don't worry, you won't be asked to dive bomb in it.
-
You hit the "Generate Mission" button in DCG. Then back in the game, just exit your current campaign then go back into it again.

Starting dates of the campaign operations error
Lowengrin replied to p.jakub88's topic in DCG Bug Reports
I'll have a look. It may be the fix start dates option has been broken. -
As DCG is dynamic, it's irrelevant as to whether you succeed or fail in the mission. So some missions there's no indication of success or failure - it just doesn't matter to the campaign.
-
I believe in the off-line campaign, destroyed buildings (not added by the mission template) remain destroyed but that doesn't carry over in on-line campaigns. It's the IL-2 game and not DCG that determines this.
