Armor columns and @Future attribute

Recommended Posts

Version: IL2 DCG 3.48b9 and may be earlier versions

Mode: Dogfight

Not really a bug but...

Each mission, armor columns with the @Future attribute spawn at locations, mainly with the _Supply_Depot attribute.

This is a time-related mistake. Furthermore they are part of the combat being able to destroy the columns attacking the location where they spawned...

How is't possible? they aren't supposed to exist at this date.

Have a good day.

Oh, sorry...

A little other one:

It seems that in the IL2 DCG 3.48b9 and may be earlier versions, Dogfight mode, the IL-4 (IL_4_IL4) isn't flyable.

Now back to Armor.

From the armor.dcg file:

4-BT7             1 193901 194406 4-T34_85         01/02
...

4-T34_85        1 194403 194612 none                07/07

And:

4-PzIVF2         2 194208 194408 4-PzIVJ             06/06
4-PzIVJ            2 194306 194504 4-PzVA             06/06
4-PzVA            2 194307 194612 none                 09/09

The campaign date is 06/01/1943 (mm/dd/yyyy).

Red side, I plan T34_85 armor columns and I get BT7 columns. Ok.

Blue side, I plan PzVA armor columns and I get @Future. Why not PzIVJ or PzIVF2?

Have a good day. :P

Sir,

I use the new beta (3.48b10). The problems persist so I come back here and ruin your day. :(

The mission date: 25/08/1943.

Here the 12_Chief and 15_Chief columns spawn without being upgraded...

From IL2 DCG Campaign Info v3.21.doc

DCG CAMPAIGN INFORMATION  (v3.21)

(Compiled by Tailspin)

UNIT UPGRADES
ARMOR UNITS (ARMOR.DCG)
DCG will look at the tanks (only the tanks) and determine if they were available at a specific point in time (doesn't matter what campaign or map in the campaign).  If you have the tank downgrade option “uncheckedâ€, tanks will be left out of the mission if they not available for the current mission date.  If you “check†the tank downgrade option, DCG can substitute tanks with another tank (as per the armor.dcg file) if the current tank is not available for the date.  Doing so removes the historical flow of the campaign in way to total ground force power so the Russian could win Smolensk right away in 1941.  Both moving and stationary tanks get upgraded.
Per Paul, an armor unit will almost always upgrade based on the upgrade tank's start date and not the end date of the current tank type.
Try not to change the combination of tank units that I put on each map.  I put the combinations of units that you see based on numerous testing battles between the various tank types to see who would win against whom.  I believe I have good combination for both game play and frame rates.

I think that a lot of documentation about IL2 DCG is wrong...

this is disturbing.

Buddy dont forget that Tailspin wrote his Tutorial 6 or 8 yrs ago, by a different DCG version.

A lot of stuff changed in the meantime.

Basically it is a red line to orientate and to to help you test and learn on your own.

Paul gave a working explanation, how armor updates work right now.

But maybe you could create an updated DCG Tutorial for newcomers?

No problem Sir.

My mates and me enjoy IL2 DCG, in Dogfight mode, every day.

We are playing a full fictionnal campaign, using the Slovakia map, wich is still a work in progress.

The only thing I want is to use the IL2 DCG features as well as possible and your answers (Lowengrin and other veteran users) always help me.

Thanks to all.

It seems that Armor aren't yet upgraded...

Mode Dogfight.

Mission date is 06/13/1944.

Extract from the columns.dcg file:

52_Chief Armor.4-BT7 1 @Levice_Supply_Depot $4-T34_85_52 ~L
53_Chief Armor.4-BT7 1 @Skacany $4-T34_85_53 ~A
54_Chief Armor.2-BT7 1 @Cifary $4-T34_85_54 ~A
55_Chief Armor.4-BT7 1 @Sarluzky $4-T34_85_55 ~A
56_Chief Armor.4-BT7 1 @Nove_Mesto_nad_Vahom_Supply_Depot $4-T34_85_56 ~L

The 52_Chief column isn't upgraded from 4-BT7 to 4-T34_85 when spawning after destruction.

The 56_Chief column isn't upgraded from 4-BT7 to 4-T34_85 when spawning after destruction.

From the armor.dcg file:

4-BT7             1 193901 194406 4-T34_85         01/02
...

4-T34_85        1 194403 194612 none                07/07

Sorry if I ruin your day again (but holidays are over isn't it  )

Ok.

First of all, thanks to Nephris. It works now.

I've made the change in the armor.dcg file:

4-BT7             1 193901 194405 4-T34_85         01/02

Here's the debrief after the 06/20/1944 mission

Debrief:

Mission results:
\nOther News:
A BT7 unit was destroyed near Telince (F-1).
A PzIVJ unit was destroyed near Telince (F-1).
A BT7 unit was destroyed near Nitra Power Plant (D-2).
A Soviet truck convoy was destroyed near Telince (F-1).
An IS2 unit was destroyed near Telince (F-1).
A Bf-110G-2 was shot down.
A Soviet truck convoy was destroyed near Velky Dur (F-1).
A La-5FN was shot down.

A Ju-87G-1 was shot down.
An IL-2 Type 3M was shot down.
A La-5 was shot down.
A Bf-109G-6/AS was shot down.
A Soviet truck convoy was destroyed near Kalna (G-1).
A Ju-87G-1 was shot down.

And extract from the columns.dcg file:

52_Chief Armor.4-BT7 1 @Velky_Dur $4-T34_85_52 ~A
53_Chief Armor.4-BT7 1 @Horne_Chlebany $4-T34_85_53 ~A
54_Chief Armor.4-T34_85 1 @Levice_Supply_Depot $4-T34_85_54 ~L
55_Chief Armor.4-T34_85 1 @Topolcany_Supply_Depot $4-T34_85_55 ~L
56_Chief Armor.4-BT7 1 @Borovce $4-T34_85_56 ~A

The 2 bolded columns respawn upgraded. So it works now.

I use the IL2 DCG 3.48b10 version and the stock armor.dcg file, so I think that the problem is with IL2 DCG (somewhere in the package. Exe file or other data file).

Change the BT7 line with 194405 for 194406, tried playing your own campaign and backup...

Thanks again.
