Klaiber Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Hi Guys,I saw this today while surfing. http://gizmodo.com/this-software-creates-vivid-color-pictures-from-black-a-1768422767 Basically, to quote the article, it's a "new computer vision system that takes a grayscale image and then adds color to it in a way that looks convincing to humans... It doesn’t necessarily choose the right colors, merely ones that look plausible". There is a link at the bottom of the Gizmodo article, where you can try it out for yourself. I am dying to try some black and white photographs of WW1 German aircraft. However, I wasn't able to figure out how to make it work. I don't have IPython notebook, for example. If someone does give it a shot, please post your results! I'm dying to see what it does. Quote
Britchot Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 I'm very apprehensive of anything posted on the internet today... Quote
Klaiber Posted April 1, 2016 Author Report Posted April 1, 2016 If it's an April Fool's joke, it's an advanced one with back-dating and references. A far as I can tell "Automatic Colorization" Neural Networks are a real thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MJU8VK2PI4 http://www.i-programmer.info/news/105-artificial-intelligence/9330-automatic-colorizing-photos-with-a-neural-net.html Stuka 1 Quote
Britchot Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 I believe it works, it just happened to be the Nth thing I saw today and mentioned my April apprehension. Quote
Barton Posted April 1, 2016 Report Posted April 1, 2016 Just saw an article on a supposed lunar landing hoax confession from a cameraman. It was pretty well written. In fact, it was far too well written to have been so by someone of the supposed author's backgriund. Not to mention the article ending, "I'm not damn fool! Are you?" April fools is such an awesome day Quote
