  1. They never wasted an ounce of extra weight on the landing gear. Later, the narrow width was thought of as a detriment. But really it was an example of very efficient engineering, for hard surfaces. Gotta love this plane for what it was made for. BTW, did you know there's a specific purpose for having FLAT panels on cockpit windows? A complex curved panel will create a reflection no matter where the sun is. A flat panel will only create a reflection when the panel is exactly positioned to focus on the the viewer (think of a person trying to use a mirror to create a bright signal). This is far more unlikely. So, the Spitfire may be beautiful; but the 109 is functional.
  2. Thing of BEAUTY Thanks Lee!
  3. Some of the maps or missions have certain objects in them, some don't; it even matters if you come into view of those objects, or not. So please try the recovery thing if you're still having problems.
  4. I'm sure the rest of the Red team will agree with me when I say, thanks Wrongway! You guys sure did do MORE with LESS on the Wednesday sessions!! S!
  5. Like. Probably best possible compromise for now.
  6. What you can do: Run the "Recovery" option that is available in the RoF game launcher. This will fix any files that may be corrupted in your game. It will also set all game settings back to their defaults; so expect to need to reset things back to the way you like them once it is complete. When the recovery is running, if it asks you to install any DirectX files, just go ahead and let it. Also let us know if you've ever installed any mods in your RoF game. These can cause problems sometimes if modified files get left in any of the game folders. If there are, I don't know whether recovery will get rid of them or not. There's a utility that looks for and finds them for you, if you need it. This is usually the primary thing to do when you're having RoF game issues, and nobody else it having those same issues. Good luck! PS: a 630 is a pretty low-grade video card for RoF. You might have less trouble with a higher powered video card. In any nVidea series cards, most people consider the GTX "(_)70" model cards (currently the 970) to give you the most power for what they cost (bang for the buck). If you go lower than that performance drops off quite a bit, for not a whole lot of savings. Some people do fine with 60 or 50 series cards though. A lot depends on the resolution you're running, and if you're using a display limited to 1080p it's easier for the lower model cards to handle.
  7. Basically Saturdays are a success, the server is as full as anybody would want it to be, and the sides are at the very least close enough to being balanced, if not downright favorable to the Blue team. So I would say forget moving pilots from Red to Blue because it solves one problem, to create another. The Saturday sessions also show the problem is not a lack of willing pilots in RoF, just willing pilots who are available on Wednesdays. We can hope more pilots will show up on Wednesdays for whatever reason. However, judging by what Wrongway has said, this seems very unlikely. If people are asking "what's the point", well I guess I'd have to tell them the POINT is fun, not who wins the score. If it's clear nobody on Blue/Wed is having fun anymore because they have little chance of success or survival, who am I to tell them they should do more with less; they're already doing that, and maybe they're tired of it. So I would suggest the only real question is when to eliminate the Wednesday sessions; immediately after XXIIIa, or after XXIIIb runs its course, thereby completing the entire event as planned. The thing is, I don't really see the point of telling Blue team that they MUST finish the whole thing as is. It's not like you can MAKE them come; it might even discourage the Saturday pilots and spoil that event too. So I would ask Blue team to seriously consult all their pilots both Saturday and Wednesday, and consider whether they've reached that point and let us all know, because that's the only way the best decision can be reached.
  8. Congrats everybody, a lot went on in that session. Great job by all!
  9. Hi Marx, good to have you on this forum! It's also good to see that you READ THE RULES, which is extremely important in this kind of event. So THANKS! Probably the biggest thing that will help you is to know WHO your Blue team commander is, and how your team disseminates their instructions or plans before each session. Always be on your team's official TeamSpeak channel so that you're always in-the-know as to what's going on real-time in the session. Hopefully you understand the difference between dead-is-dead, and being shot down. If you can manage to survive being shot down, and not captured on the enemy side of the lines, you CAN fly again after waiting the prescribed time between flights (if your commander allows you to take another plane). So do your best to avoid the above situations, and hopefully you'll live a long time and have a lot of fun flying. S! Sir
  10. How about "twin articulated guns allowed in gunner crew postions" No twin fixed guns mods for the pilot position allowed.
  11. Yes!! I can smash into stuff like no other!
  12. Sweet shots! Awesome! I gotta say that DH.4 / Fokker D.VIIf shot is maybe the best shot I've ever seen....you could make a painting out of that Gonna steal it for a desktop background
  13. Hotlead surpasses my every expectation! I honestly felt a little nervous at the beginning because I wanted it to live up to all the critical expectations of the "community".....and it HAS without any doubt. Salute Hotlead and Co. for an awesome piece of work! Outstanding!
  14. Great job, you guys! You whupped 'em good! S!
  15. You're already having a ball, and then they give you this too. Nice!!
  16. The finished product, with CPU cooler, video card and sound card installed: Working beautifully with stock speed settings (no overclocks). However BIOS has been VERY buggy to make any changes in. None of the "push button" automatic OC or XMP speed settings work; neither does the operating system setting for Win8.1/Win10. For now just enjoying things the way they are, which is very fast, and improved game play, and stunning SSD performance. Sorry for the crappy picture quality, my camera is loaned out so all I have is cell phone PS @ Dudley/Snagglepuss, upon reinstallation of game controllers and RoF, the controller I.D.'s came out the same. So I lucked out and had no need to edit any controls maps in the game
  17. They pay you for that??!!! Who knew! Thanks!!
  18. Butzzell, I always knew you had it in you Salute, sir!! Great job!
  19. No, no....Father Ted must be on the RED team
  20. I also have a Sennheiser (I think it's a PC-350 or something like that). It has worked perfectly for years and is not deteriorating in any way. My personal preference is for the heavier, padded, over-the-ear type. I think a lot of what you get is a good quality microphone. If it works without having to boost the level and stays stable over time without having to adjust the voice activation level, that is a good thing to have. It seems like many cheaper types fall short in that area.
  21. This is my Pup......
