Just like Aubrey and Maturin (without the sails )! I didn't know there were excursions associated with National Geographic. Really sounds like an awesome thing to do!! Thanks, Lee!

ThrustMaster T-Flightstick -X loss of Throttle control
-Hawkeye- replied to VonWrecker's topic in Technical Support
Good luck vW, hope you're airborne again soon. I've been having a few issues with my pedals, myself. Working on it this weekend.... -
Please don't remove the Arty Spot. IMHO it's a core mission for both sides. The Arty Spot is, in general, probably the best mission for emulating what they really did in WWI to help their side win. If anything, it would be better to have to do 2 or 3 of them. However, I understand FiF is about variety and fun, so I would never expect that. Maybe someday we'll have a themed FiF that tries to reproduce an all-out ground attack by one side, where ground attack aircraft like the Halb CL.II hit many front-line targets, and many Arty spots take place that try to eliminate enemy artillery batteries. The action in a battle like this would be mostly at low altitudes. Maybe the number of scouts would even be limited to some agreed upon number, such as a 50/50 ratio.

Nothing could be more deserved for a commander who makes a unit like this possible. Thank you and congratulations!!

Lots of good information here, thanks all. I'd forgotten about the IR brightness and never really thought about the fact you only need them if you're using reflectors (hat). When I first got TIR many years ago, I also bought the TrackClip Pro. I don't know why, I guess I thought it would be better. My experience with it was that sometimes my face would shade it when I turned my head in the direction that the mic boom was on, and my view would freeze for a second. I think it only takes one of the Iights to be blocked for this to happen. I think this is more likely to happen if you have a big screen. I also preferred not having that extra wire that needs to be routed to a USB port for power. I can see why people all have different preferences, since the environments that they play in are so varied. Everybody needs to optimize their equipment for the situation that they're in. I also wear glasses, and like Hess, have a pair that is a fixed magnification for flying instead of my progressive lenses that I wear the rest of the day. My flying glasses are just cheap reading glasses that have no special coatings that I know of. I don't know why but I've never had a problem with them reflecting IR back into the camera. Maybe it's the angle the camera is aimed at? I would think this might be more possible if your camera is directly in line with your eyeglasses. Luckily I've never had a problem with the hat clip. My computer room is an ideal situation because it has no windows , and it has wall-mounted lights. I've unscrewed the bulb on the one that's directly behind me. I'm very lucky because I've never had any kind of failure ever on my TIR. I've had a 4 and now a 5. I hope your problems are solved soon, Hess!

Hindsight Combat Evaluations in ROF

Very nice! -
Nice.....you really had good eyes on that N28, once engaged. It's hard seeing what's going on behind you when you're in avoidance mode.

Nice work guys! HL, you did need to lead him a little bit more in those particular passes; hit him where he's going to be, to hit him harder. That said, I can personally attest to the fact that you do hit hard -

Nice...you did everything perfectly. Also you showed real CLASS: 1) You blanked out the name of the person you shot down. Classy! 2) You didn't even show when you shot the other three down -
Great news, both for your good fortune, and your impending return! Congrats!

I love watching flight videos almost more than flying in the sim itself. Thanks Hotlead, and keep 'em coming, all! PS, that video was obviously made before you became an expert in the SE5a during FiF XXIII Admirable of you to post that one as opposed to all those other victorious ones S! -
All you guys, all planes, another yes.

Thanks for the info Vonrd, proper name showing now. Requested membership in JG1 group on server stats site.
-
Sorry, I don't know why but I thought it was yellow / blue. I guess the brain makes assumptions for the eyes!
-
Registered on server stats site. JG1 squadron not established or available to join there, yet. "Event Registration" link shows "Bloody April V" as the only choice in the "1. Event" field. This is Bloody April VI, right? At least that's what the info link says. Is that registration link working / updated yet? PS....anybody know how to change your display name on that forum? Was "BA_Wile E. Quixote" and want to change it to "JG1Luftritter_J4".

The following is copied and pasted from the "Server Crashes and Discos" section of the current, posted rule set: Unintentional pilot disconnections (discos) due to technical issues are almost always out of the player's control. Thus, no participating pilot will be penalized for game crashes / failures (like the 10019 error) or internet connectivity crashes / failures. If a pilot discos due to a technical issue, they should immediately check in with their team commander (CO) and ask for a rules clarification. If the CO clears the pilot, he may re-enter the server and refly, as if nothing happened. This is true even if the pilot was in enemy territory. Hope that helps clarify things. S!

@ Vonrd- Not sure you're aware.....that checkerboard pattern, in those colors......is sort of a WingWalkers thing......is it not?
-
Not to worry, Yello! There was a lot of stuff that went on that had a lot more effect on the outcome. We had people who couldn't get into the server because of the server limit, plus we also lost at least 2 bombers to DTD's and subsequent ghost pilots being carried on the server. Who cares! Not me anyway. The server / mission genius' will talk about things that went on, but we all had fun and that's what's most important. S! to both sides, great job by all!

Back then, RoF claimed that that was the way they were delivered to the front !!
-
Notice he did have the water temp thermometer, though? Remember RoF before they even HAD extra equipment? I never could figure out how they expected you to regulate the temp properly, that way, especially with no physical feedback from the airplane in a computer sim. The magazine for the left gun didn't look like ours, did it?
