Thank you all for flying FIF 2024!  We hope everyone had a great time, and we look forward to future Flanders In Flames events in the New Year!

We greatly appreciate your continued support!  Please give us your thoughts and impressions within the 🐛bug-reports or 👀discussions sections on the FIF Discord.  We would love to hear your feedback. As mentioned, FIF is a growing and changing event, so your input is vital to better cater to the community’s wants and needs.

Some special thanks.

Firstly, I’d like to thank @Kliegmann for creating FIF 2024 and for his mission building talents! Additionally, a thank you to @Moxy and @Vonrd for coordinating things behind the scenes, taking huge amounts of pressure off of me.  And a thank you to our "mission builder emeritus," @Butzzell for inspiring us to continue.

Thank you to the BLUE and RED Team Commanders! @Flyboy, @J37 Daedallus, @No.10 RNAS, @J18_MartinKvR, @Ace_Ivo, and the people I don't know about who did the heavy lifting week to week. You made mission plans, handed out orders, and made things fun for everyone. And your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

Thank you to @-IRFC-Tunes, Eccho, and the entire Ad Astra team. Without their support, server, and stats page, this event would not have been able to happen.

Furthermore, a thank you to @JGr2-J5_Baeumer for his continued support and encouragement. Flugpark is an example of what happens when the community comes together, and we're inspired by that example.

If I have forgotten anyone, the negligence is mine alone. We greatly appreciate everyone's ongoing efforts within the FC community!

The complete results can be found here: https://forum.jg1.org/forum/74-fif-session-results/

Expect a Newspaper report in the next few days from Kliegmann.

New campaign shields, replacing the traditional ribbons, have been created to celebrate the event’s conclusion. We hope you will wear them virtually and with pride, as you’ve earned it!

Cheers! Santé! Prost!

Triumphant in the Skies: German Flyers Secure Dominance Over the Somme

From Our Correspondent on the Western Front

In the unrelenting clash above the scarred fields of the Somme, our valiant aviators of the German Red team have delivered a resounding success. Reports from the front lines show that, with skill and unbreakable resolve, the Red team scored a remarkable 15 points out of a possible 20, soundly outmatching the Entente's Blue team, who managed only 6 points in their attempts.

Our flyers undertook an ambitious campaign of destruction and disruption, striking deep into enemy operations. Notably, a critical victory was achieved when German pilots 100% destroyed an Entente troop encampment, a significant setback to enemy strength along the front. Additionally, our aviators executed a flawless interception, seizing a prototype Entente aircraft—a remarkable achievement that will no doubt be invaluable to our technical experts.

In an exceptional demonstration of precision, Red team flyers obliterated an enemy supply convoy and artillery guns stationed along the front. The annihilation of an Entente supply train further underscored the Empire's command of both air and logistics in this sector. A 25% strike on a Blue team factory ensured that the enemy’s resources would be curtailed, further tipping the scales in our favor.

The Entente’s Blue team attempted retaliation, completing an Artillery Spotting mission that saw the destruction of an ammunition depot. Their additional efforts—managing partial strikes on a troop encampment and factory—paled in comparison to the decisive blows delivered by our Red team.

The outstanding victories of today reflect not only the bravery but the technical prowess and discipline of German aviators. These heroes of the sky strike fear into the hearts of our enemies, reminding them that the skies, like the fields below, are under German command. May this victory bring us ever closer to ultimate triumph, proving the superiority of the Fatherland’s flying corps.

Clash in the Skies: The Battle of the Somme’s Tournament Concludes with Red Team Victory

From Our Correspondent in Europe

In the midst of the ongoing battles on the Western Front, a new kind of warfare played out in the skies above the Somme. Our latest reports recount the outcomes of a tournament fought between the Red and Blue teams, with these aerial squadrons engaging in a daring series of missions. Over four intense engagements, the Red team emerged triumphant with a total of 35 victory points to the Blue team’s 27, a close and hard-fought victory that leaves no doubt about the skill and courage of both sides.

The tournament’s opening mission saw the Blue team seizing an early advantage with 8 points to the Red team’s 6. Their swift maneuvers and aggressive targeting put the Red team on alert, signaling that they were facing a formidable foe. But the second mission, a turning point, brought a surge from the Red team. Their fliers outmatched the Blue team, scoring 9 points to the Blue’s 5, recapturing momentum with daring maneuvers and precise strikes.

The third mission proved another close contest, with the Blue team retaliating and earning 8 points to the Red’s 5. The determination and fighting spirit of the Blue team forced the Red fliers to regroup for the final showdown. When the fourth and decisive engagement arrived, the Red team pulled ahead with a remarkable display of firepower and coordination, scoring a substantial 15 points to the Blue team’s 6.

The Red team’s triumph in this tournament attests to their unity and their proficiency in handling the modern technologies of warfare. In a contest where every mission brought new tactics and dangers, both teams exhibited extraordinary bravery. These contests above the Somme have tested not only the limits of man’s machinery but also his spirit, and it is certain that such skills will play an ever-greater role in future engagements.

As the Great War continues, the Red team’s victory is a testament to the growing importance of air combat in this modern conflict. Americans watching from afar can only marvel at the courage shown in these encounters and hold out hope for a swift end to the devastating battles that rage across Europe.

God Bless America!
