Klaiber Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 Needless to say, it's extremely impressive: http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/russias-stealthy-new-fighter-was-ok-but-the-su-35-stol-1727983756 This is from the Russian International Aviation and Space Show, better known as MAKS. Quote
Britchot Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 Pretty damn impressive. Now I know what to look for in the flight model in DCS: World 2.0 Quote

Barton Posted September 2, 2015 Report Posted September 2, 2015 I see super maneuverability dogfights with WW1 speeds and turn radius in 20 ton mammoths and high off bore-sight heat seeking missiles Quote

Karl Spackler Posted September 7, 2015 Report Posted September 7, 2015 So basically you can depart the aircraft anytime you want, and its FBW is so good and the control surfaces are so big and the engines are impervious to compressor stall so that you can pretty much recover at any attitude with burner and neutral stick/rudder. Well played Sukhoi, well played indeed. Quote
Klaiber Posted September 7, 2015 Author Report Posted September 7, 2015 Yeah, it's like watching an X-wing. Would love to see it knife fight another aircraft. Plus, I've been reading about the Su-35's BVR abilities. And they're pretty impressive. One website talks about the Russian philosophy regarding missile salvos. http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Rus-BVR-AAM.html They pack eight to twelve BVR missiles to the Su-35, and then ripple fire them at the target. Even if the target is taking evasive, that target must now jam, decoy or outmaneuver three or four tightly spaced missiles at once. Quote
