Klaiber Posted March 25, 2017 Report Posted March 25, 2017 Very nice video! Makes me wish the Normandy map was already released. Quote
-Hawkeye- Posted March 26, 2017 Report Posted March 26, 2017 Did you have a wingman? Somebody shot a couple of those guys off your tail. Was that an FW-190 you were in? What were those enemies? Looked like that last one you couldn't shake was a P-51. Of course I don't know a thing about DCS. But the graphics looked a little sub-par compared to other WWII sims I've seen recently. Would that be correct? BTW, that "defensive maneuvers" video you made saved my butt yesterday Lone Sopwith Pup fends off and escapes from 3 Alb D.II's with altitude, for a safe RTB. Felt great to make it out of that situation alive. Thanks! Quote
Barton Posted March 27, 2017 Author Report Posted March 27, 2017 I was in a Fw-190 D-9 alone and off comms. There just happened to be other friendlies in the area. It was a P-51 I couldn't shake. Every time I thought I had him he just dug in and clung to my tail. Eventually running the MW50 caught up to me. The graphics for the Caucasus Map is version 1.5 and a bit outdated but the (and feel free anyone to correct me if I'm wrong) Nevada Map was released for the bet version 2.0 and it has improved graphics among other things. AFAIK DCS is still working on combining the two into a single version. Glad that video helped out. It can be even more rewarding to simply land intact after surviving a fight that should have killed you than to get a couple kills. Quote
Klaiber Posted March 27, 2017 Report Posted March 27, 2017 DCS 2.0.5 on the Nevada map is beautiful. And the Normandy map will be on 2.0 as well. As Barton said, it's just the Caucasus Map which needs some help. When it's brought up to 2.0 standards, they'll switch over to a combined platform - DCS 2.5 Regarding graphics, DCS is also highly adaptable. The lowest machines can run it, and the highest too. So, you'll often notice a lot of variation regarding picture quality. Quote
Vonrd Posted March 27, 2017 Report Posted March 27, 2017 We really need to decide where we're going as a squadron regarding WWII sims. All perceptions welcome. Quote
Rotermann Posted March 27, 2017 Report Posted March 27, 2017 BTW, that "defensive maneuvers" video you made saved my butt yesterday Lone Sopwith Pup fends off and escapes from 3 Alb D.II's with altitude, for a safe RTB. Felt great to make it out of that situation alive. Thanks! I bet Quote
