Something I always noticed when going inside older warbirds is the distinct "canvas tent" aroma.

Ingenious method of carefully removing the original fabric, re-covering the rudder with new fabric as a substrate and then laying the original fabric over the substrate and applying touch-up paint only where needed. I doubt that I'd have the patience to see it through.
