Some of you know that I've been totally frustrated with IL2 controls not working properly. I've been messaging back and forth with tech support about this and was about to give up. The D7F Altitude throttle, mixture control, and water radiators just would not respond to any control inputs at all, even though the controls were recognized in the settings. I couldn't even get it to recognize the keyboard commands.

Well, I got in to LAX this afternoon and found out Hawg is on a different trip here (he got in early this morning) so we went to dinner. As I was explaining this to him, he suggested I look to see if my Engine Management controls are set to easy/automatic. So when I got back to my room I checked it out and now it works! Apparently when I downloaded IL2 to my new gaming laptop it is automatically set for "Normal" which includes easy engine management and I had never considered this as I was so used to it working properly for the last couple years. The keyboard commands now work and I have no doubt my controls will now work also when I get home.

That's great!

I would have not suspected that to be the issue. One of the problems is with game devs wanting to include the lowest common denominator. How many of their long term customers use a keyboard to fly?... Zero?

Still, they get some $ from the fleeting "try it" folks.

I'm surprised that tech support didn't ID this as an issue. You should definitely let them know in order to help others that might encounter this issue.

I ran into this problem while setting up my controls yesterday as well, I had the radiator mapped (WW1) and it did not respond to my imput then I found that I had easy engine management on (I just reinstalled IL2 but did not select easy engine managment...) so now it works like it is supposed to.
