  5. I was aware of the Yardbirds and Zepplin. Not to mention Aerosmith. Now I'm curious how many have covered it.
  6. I'm not an expert in this area. This won't answer your question completely. I'm not sure if anyone has an actual chart to tell X*Y=Z on each aircraft. At the 11:00 mark Sheriff talks about performance of the 190A-3. Watch it then read below. I used to take note of the time when I take off and climb in combat power. Then I throttle back to continuous power once I was at altitude usually 4K-7K depending on weather and the server I was on. I found that if I get engaged and reduce my throttle in dives and never firewall it in climbs. Dipping into Emergency Power but never at 100%. I won't blow my engine. Now I'm not too concerned about the combat power I use in the climb out. Also you will notice that some aircraft you can push the throttles to 100% and not get into Emergency Power. Those engines were known to blow up easily. The throttle was adjusted in the field or in the factory so were not able to get into the higher RPM's I do recall us having this discussion before. It must have been on T.S, because I can't find it on our forums.
  7. I will fly both. I do have a soft spot for the F6F-5 and the F4U-4 though. When I flew Warbirds and Aces High we where a USN squad. When it came to Pacific scenarios we flew USN planes the other squads filled in the extra slots for both sides. Then when it was European or Russian theater we flew where ever we where assigned. This way the other squads get to fly their preferred planes. I liked that it gave all the squads a chance to fly together. Whatever happens in the future as far as DiD tourneys, if that means we have to fly for the Imperial Japanese Navy or US Navy to keep everyone happy so be it.
  8. Well the Dolphin if you enable all the guns is a huge weapon platform. Go into quick mission and enable all the guns you will see what I mean. My guess most people will lock them out to some extent. Other than that both models look and feel good in VR. FC Dolphin is more forgiving than the RoF version.
  9. My coworkers all ready think I'm weird. If I tell them I was riding a Dolphin in VR, they will really start to wonder.
  10. After I was killed I looked for a gunners seat they where all full. I was going to go to the map wasn't paying attention. Accidentally hit fly again. I exited the server immediately. So when you looking at my logs that was what happened. By the way thanks for shooting my wires off. Kind of hard to control the EIII with no wires.
  11. There has been a major update to the mod. So as of 10.6 the above settings will not work. I will work out new settings.
  12. Here is what it brings to the table that would translate for both. 1 There is an issue with planes disappearing around clouds when they haven't entered them yet. He has been messing with that. I haven't notice any major difference when its on or off. Could be patch or the mod needs updating. 2 There is a zoom function. Don't use it myself but you can Instantaneously zoom to 1.5X, 5X and 10X. 3 Occulus guys needed to remove the propeller due to artifacting. It didn't change anything for me including FPS so I leave it on. 4 Color, you can change brightness and saturation since it can't be done like a monitor. I use this and have 3 settings. link to my settings as of 12/24/18 http://forum.jg1.org/topic/5619-il2-sturmovik-vr-settings-mod-configuration/?do=findComment&comment=45651 5 There is a kneeboard function. Its great for making maps or notes so you can page through it while in VR. 5 pages max as of v10.1 I have used it and plan on using it for events. 6 The optical gun-sight is only rendered in one eye. Useful for WWII. 4,5 and 6 are the most useful to me. 13. Sorry I fired on you when you where dead stick. I'm not sure if its VR or the game, but I find it harder to tell if the enemies engine has stopped unlike ROF. (and no its not the 3dmigoto mod for VR) While we are on the subject of VR. Framerates where good up until that big furball at the end of the second map. Not sure if that was because of the AI in the game or we were all in the same place or combination of the 2. So for the most part it looked good on my end.
  14. It was fun Big Salute to all who joined hope you had fun.
  15. Lip, something you mention last night made me think of this now. Are you using Steam VR for your Rift? Not sure if this will help you. With the Vive in the Applications menu for Box I have Override Global settings and Disable checked. It gave me that weird underwater effect with the propeller that you Rift guys where experiencing. Maybe some day I can re-enable it but for now that is where it is. Its a motion smoothing option to save frame rates.
  16. So here is what I did to get to where I am today using the 3dMiGoto mod. To start off I have the HTC Vive Pro my settings will be different but the process should be the same. I first got my Box settings to where I could maintain a high frame rate it dips into the 50's at times online but for the most part its in the 80's. 2nd this was important to me because the Vive Pro has a slightly higher resolution and I'm using a 1080Ti. I could get a good picture and decent frame rates. However I couldn't spot contacts. I actually had to roll back my resolution back a bit to get them to render. What I did was set up a quick mission head to head 7000m apart. Once I was rolled back far enough to spot the contacts from 7000m, I called it good. Everything still looks good at this setting so that is taken care of. Next was the color settings. Which was a combination of QMB and online flying. Lip, here are my settings. Still a WIP. [Key9] ;Color Fix Key = ALT no_shift no_ctrl u type = cycle ; modify the last value with what you want to use for color increase (should be the same as default) z6 = 0.1, -0.05, 0.0 w6 = 1.0, 1.0, 1.0 x1 = 0.7, 0.2, 0.5 As you can see I have 3 settings. Z6 is basically your gamma. Anything higher than .1 is too washed out. Anything below .05 is too dark. Even for a bright winter map. X1 is Color saturation. For my brighter setting I have the color set to 0.7 too add color while keeping it bright. I dropped the color on my darker setting to 0.2. The 3rd is the in between setting.
  17. A lot of good streaks ended. Lets starts some more good ones in 2019.
