  1. I'll track down the history the next time I'm at the museum (been under the weather the last couple of weeks). The restoration is being done by Meier Motors, see the link below (in German). http://www.meiermotors.com/index.php/projekte/messerschmitt-bf109/messerschmitt-bf109-g-fighterfactory?showall=&limitstart=
  2. Here is a test run video of the Bf-109 that is heading to the the Military Aviation Museum's collection in Virginia Beach.
  3. Update didn't change custom head positions, but you have to re-select your field mods, weapons and pilot stuff.
  4. S! Hawkeye Fair and valid points. I have no problems switching sides and re flying campaigns if that's what the majority wants. I did fly for RAF56 in the old RB3D days. S!
  5. I don't think we need to switch sides and refly campaigns unless there is some controversy regarding the plane set. In the old RB3D FiF days, some campaigns we repeated because the custom flight models were felt to greatly favor one side over the other. Since all squadrons agree to the plane sets these days and we can't alter the FMs, I don't see this as an issue. If a squad wants to switch sides for a new campaign, they are free to do so. I prefer the current Wednesday war night, but would consider addition nights on a case by case basis, depending on my schedule.
  6. I've got the sea level speed of the D.Va at 180 km/h and the Camel at 165 km/hr. Finally, if we miss the initial bounce we can extend away and live to talk about it.
  7. More FM changes than I expected, and all needed. Will have to see how the game plays, but looking really good on paper.
  8. Yup, I ordered it. I don't mind paying 777 when they do good things. So Fred, the next FiF might be Russian Front?
  9. Interesting and makes a lot of sense. Very curious as to the FM tweaks. So do we spend $20 now for the Ilya Muromets or wait for the next sale?
  10. Here's some shots from the Military Aviation Museum's Biplanes and Triplanes air show 2014. Sorry, I was working at the show and had left my camera in the car. We will have to make due with iPhone pictures. S! Flightline. Flightline. Flightline. Blériot XI replica. Neiuport 23 replica. Nieuport 17 replica. 1917 manufacture Curtis Jenny. Something you don't see flying around everyday. Fokker D.VIII, Fokker D.VII and Fokker Dr.I replicas.
  11. The Military Aviation Museum is having it's annual Biplanes and Triplanes air show this weekend. Thought you all might be interested in one of our Fokker D.VII replicas with its brand new Lozenge fabric. This aircraft has a Hall-Scott engine, which is about as close the original BMW as we can get. S!
  12. I've updated. So far so good. S!
  13. I haven't updated to 1.033b and may not until 1.033c. Lot of new bugs spawned in with the update: Apparently the views won't save. http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=43865 There is a bug in spin recovery where pitch control freezes. http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=353&t=43880 This may impact FiF.
  14. After the fall of France, the British evaluated all available aircraft for their combat potential. I don't know about the Lewis gun, but the Tiger Moth was evaluated for carrying bombs. Tests showed bomb laden Moths had poor spin recovery, so anti-spin strakes were added to the fuselage sides and integrated into the horizontal tail. The video's moth for all its bombs and guns doesn't have the strakes. See the photo below for what the strakes look like.
  15. Yes, that's the first one. If you only get one in the series it's the one to get. It covers all the German types, the blueprint or index as you will for the rest of the series.
  16. Jack Herris just released the 9th volume to his "A Centennial Perspective on Great War Airplanes" Series. The newest is "Roland Aircraft of WW1." According to amazon: "This book describes and illustrates the development of L.F.G. Roland aircraft in WWI with text, 390 photos (9 in color), 50 color profiles, production quantities and serial numbers of aircraft and aircraft dimensions and performance specifications. In addition, 8 Roland aircraft types are illustrated in 1/48 scale drawings. The book has 206 letter-size (8.5â€x11â€) pages and is of interest to aviation historians, enthusiasts, and modelers alike." This one should be landing here at the beach on Monday. I have the entire series and recommend them highly, although some may find "Nachtflugzeug! German N-Types of WWI" a bit thin for the money, but then the Germans didn't make many N Types.
  17. I'd guess engine problem on take-off. Quick 180 doesn't line you up with the runway, you are off to the side. Infield likely his only option, and he just made it.
  18. Yes, please. Black strip against yellow wheel disk and all yellow rudder. S!
  19. S! Fred D.VIII looks good. I would like the black flower petal cowling and prefer the yellow chevron and ailerons on the top wing. Thanks for making the paints.

    Vote for planes

Looks good. Does this new Wurg skin replace his skin in the mass JG1 PDXII skin vote?
  21. Anyone collect diecast models? Here is a shot of the newest addition to my 1:48 scale Great War collection. It's a Corgi model (AA38905) of Jasta 10 Leader Oblt Erich Löwenhardt's Fokker D.VII F. S!
  22. Went over to the museum today to help with the Aerostar Club fly-in. Weather was perfect. S!
