  1. Dang, I really wish I wasn't at work tonight.
  2. Awesome! Glad you've found your way back!
  3. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thach_Weave I grossly mis-named the maneuver. I'll hang my head in shame. Regardless, the maneuver was followed to a T.
  4. Guys, the thatch and weave we started performing is around 1:11:00 in. I think you guys will be thoroughly entertained if you watch the next 7-8 minutes from that point. It was really well preformed by us both, and I think it'd be beneficial for us all to know how to pull this off. This is by far the best way to deal with Spads!
  5. I've also heard "Treffer" for hits on an enemy however, that directly translates to hits in English.
  6. Interesting! There a lot of big fans of DCS in ACG. Our cold war server has really kind of taken off, but I don't fly the big burny engine type darts. I do enjoy the 51 and the German birds quite a bit, but I have not flown any of it much. If you are referring to jets I'd more than happily liaise between JG1 and ACG. Actually, for any matter that might want to be discussed I'd happily be the middle man.
  7. Haha fair play!
  8. Of course! We can work on that right after I get through all the initiation stuff! Additionally, I encourage everyone to refer to me as "Shade". It's easier and quicker than Shadepiece in full. Shadepiece is a moniker I've used for a VERY long time, and it's unique enough to not be taken wherever I register, and I intend to keep it in a official capacity however, most guys just call me " Shade" during flight or conversation.
  9. Really interested to hear what all the initiation tasks are. I am looking forward to getting fully initiated in!
  10. You did very good staying with me Smolders. I'd be happy to work with you a bit more!
  11. Can't wait! I really wish I could read the change log to tide me over.
  12. Thanks for the very warm welcome everybody! I am very excited to be a part of all this here with JG1. It'll be a ton of fun I can tell.
  13. We should have a conversation soon on these particulars! I find it incredibly interesting.
  14. As a lot of you will come to find out I am an absolute damage model fanatic!! I believe Rise of Flight is underrated in many ways in the community and the DM is no different. I really like the damage model in RoF, and I really hope that FC will improve upon that with some significance. After all, the reason we fly combat flight sims is the whole damage other aircraft part.
  15. What is your Timezone? - Mountain Time currently. Do you have a joystick or HOTAS? - A Warthog throttle and Joystick with MFG pedals. Do you have TeamSpeak installed, as well as a working microphone? -I do! Do you have TrackIR, or a FreeTrack system for view control? - Track IR What sims are you currently flying? - Mainly Battle of Stalingrad, but more and more Rise of Flight recently. How did you hear about JG1? - Originally through Barton's YouTube channel, but more recently through HotLead's activity in the Facebook group. Is there anything else that you'd like us to know? - A long standing member of ACG as well. - Willing to work with less experienced pilots if they would be interested.
  16. I had to recalibrate them in DIView after my move, because they felt a little off. Opened up DIView and boom 30 seconds later they were recalibrated, and I've never had any issues since except when I had to open them up and replace my brake sensors. My dog decided that they were in the way of his ball haha! Anyway Milan shipped the sensors very quickly, and I was able to put them in no problem.
  17. Haha you'll surely love them.
  18. I completely agree with you, Luftritter, and that is exactly what I meant when I was talking about the "spirit" of the aircraft. I know the idea of pilot accounts is very subjective and definitely not something that is set in stone however, it seems like the only thing that we have when looking at these WWI birds. The historical data is old and possibly not very accurate as Vonrd stated. That's why I think pilot accounts are actually incredibly valuable in getting the feel of the aircraft correct. I do believe that the devs will do a good job. They have definitely demonstrated a higher competency than other devs in this niche genre.
  19. I think it might be refreshing to go into FC knowing full well that they'll be developed in a way to reflect the spirit of the aircraft rather than a full blown study sim. As much as I would like to have that I think it would be incredibly difficult for the devs to come up with the resources. I say better to accept a historically authentic recreation from the outset. I think will allow me to ignore the very loud nay-sayers as I happily and blissfully fly through the skies above WWI France!
  20. I too am looking for the server and teamspeak password!! Found it and had a great first time!!
  21. Thank you, Klaiber! I look forward to getting involved! I will make a post on our forums to see if anyone else is interested.
  22. Hello, I am very interested in FiF, and would love to take part. I am a member of Air Combat Group, and we normally fly WWII birds, but there is a small portion of us who enjoy Rise of Flight on the side. Our Group's site: http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk I am registered as J7_Shadepiece. I was holding (on a longish break currently) a Friday night coop campaign for some of the guys in my group flying as Jasta 7. I believe some of them will be interested in this event as well, and I hope I can bring a few over to join with me. We prefer Central generally, but are also open to Entente aircraft. I am currently out of town, and probably won't be able to make it for this weekend and possibly the next however, I sure would love to take the time to get registered, and see if I can convince any of my fellow RoF mates to join in as well. I am in MST, but many of us are in the states across various timezones, and we also have a few Europeans as well. I will ensure I have them post in this thread, or at least will post for them if that is acceptable. Cheers! -Shadepiece
  23. Hello all, I flew on the Cuban server with a few of you last Thursday against some of the 103rd gents. It was a really good time, and it got me thinking that I should try to get a hold of some of the more active Rise of Flight groups to see what events are available. I am a member of Air Combat Group, but I have held a Friday night coop campaign for a period, but I think my guys would be more interested in flying sone events such as this rather than solely against AI. We primarily fly WWII birds, but I have a soft spot for RoF, and I am anxiously awaiting Flying Circus! I have known vaguely about your group through Barton's YouTube channel, and it's a real shame he's had to step away for now. Also, I stumbled on your Thursday night fly ins because of HotLead's posts in the RoF Facebook group. I hope to see you guys soon, and I am definitely interested in the FiF events you do, and I am hoping to get some of my guys to join in from time to time as well. Cheers! -Shadepiece
