  1. Thanks HotLead! I was really trying to edit the shots with the music, and I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
  2. Here is the resulting commentary video I made after that trailer!
  3. Everyone, here is the trailer I just put together for my channel if you are interested in checking it out!
  4. Welcome, Sancho, Klaiber should be along soon, but I wanted to extend a warm welcome to you! What do you fly mostly?
  5. These guys are really topnotch. I am in their discord and they are serious about getting people hooked up with printers for the parts. Eventually if I have lots of spare money I'd love to get their rig because you could swap out everything based on exactly what you are flying. The immersion in VR is probably amazing.
  6. Do you have a link or something I can take a look at?
  7. I am a bit saddened reading all of this. Honestly when I got out of the military and started flight school I was getting told the pilot shortage is here and it is only gonna get worse. I heard over and over that it was the best time to get started, but without a loan, VA benefits, or the types of offers being offered now I just could not afford to fly as much as I wanted to, and my flight school was simply too small for the amount of students trying to fly. It was seriously difficult to get scheduled for anything more than twice a week, and being weather dependent we would get grounded a few times a month typically. I also struggled with the instrument ground school quite a lot, but it probably did not help I had significantly less time than most of my classmates when I was doing it. Supposedly, you should have been able to finish you PPL during a single semester, but I only had 30 hours, about half of what I needed, by the end of that first semester. Maybe it would have been different if I had searched for a training contract or something, but I think it was just really volatile, and likely would have required me to relocate which I could not have done at the time. Since then I have had some medical issues, and although I do not think it should ground me, I am not sure if I could get a 1st class medical at the moment which sort of rules out trying to go for one of those training contracts. I only have 44 hours PIC total too, so I am not sure how bad they need people, but it seems like 44 hours just wouldn't be enough even if I could get the medical. Gliding seems really fun and cheap, and I am really excited to start dipping my toes in, but I would be a flat out liar if I said it seemed as cool as flying a jet. I wish I could go fly for an aggressor training company or something, but I think I am just starting too late to make that a reality. I am only 28, but it seems like unless I could fly on a daily basis I would never make up the hours. It took me 8 months to accrue 44 hours, so I have no idea how people are building up literal thousands of hours to start their careers. I love flying, and I really would love to do it regularly, but gliding seems like the only way I can actually do that, and I am really hoping I love it. At least I have my cool ass jets to fly with you guys!
  8. I am looking at joining a glider club near me! Had a phone call with the club president and he said with my flight training from a few years ago I could likely have my glider license by the end of the season! I can't wait to get into the air again!
  9. @Britchot I once had a Vickers machine gunner in Arnhem who had over 100 kills by the time he was finally killed. I had him in this killer building where he could cover the main road, and he held the city for two days almost entirely by himself. It was some ridiculous hero level stuff that you only get in a Close Combat game, and I don't think anyone has ever done a game better. You really do get some amazing moments in the game. Something about how the core system is built is one of the most accurate systems ever developed and i cannot believe it did not have more copycats both on PC or on the table. @Ludwig I was so damn excited for the Bloody First. I had heard about them starting development as far back as 2013. In 2017 I actually applied to be a tester because I was so excited to see what they had made, but after an hour of play I knew that all those years were wasted waiting for this game. It was so bad I never even tried to post about my complaints in the tester forum because they would have had to literally make the game from the ground up to save it from what it became. I couldn't help myself, I picked all of em up. It's just too good. It was hugely influential to my childhood, and I want every last one. I even have the CC2 disk from the 90's still...
  10. AWESOME!
  11. I absolutely adore this series, minus the newest 3D one, but all of the others are amazing in their own way! I am gonna look into the sale for sure, so thank you for the tip! I also have all the old ones off of GOG, and they run great on my system!
  12. The MiG-15 is a great bird also, and one we are trying to fly occasionally in the events on the Korea server! I think all of the North American guys have it already is the big reason I didn't suggest it. By all means, grab that one too!
  13. Love that for you! I have a really solid control scheme for the 19, so if you want to go over it sometime let me know. Out of curiosity what HOTAS are you using, Chewie?
  14. I recommend picking up the MiG-19P for $24.99 USD. I think this is a very capable dogfighter that is very intuitive to fly. Much easier than the MiG-15 and MiG-21 in BFM/ACM situations, less complex systems which is a good starting point if the 21 intimidates you, and it is capable of taking more than a few hits and getting you home. If you do not have it, you are missing out!
  15. I think this is an excellent change, and will entice more folks to sign up! Big thumbs up from me!
  16. I want an F-16 Throtle, and the extra hat on the stick would be a very welcome edition. I really think that I would be better off spending the money on VR though since what I have is pretty damn good. EDIT: I honestly want to build one hell of a simpit one day. Gonna be all F-16 stuff including a real-life rear canopy section I got from a buddy crew chief in ALS. One day, when I am not so poor...
  17. This one is a real beauty,Von. Makes me want to buy the L-39 for the first time haha!
  18. Is there a reason as to why the German side has 124 fighters and the allied side only has 24??
  19. Awesome! With permission, I would like to post this to the ACG forums. I think there will be some takers, ideally for allied slots!
  20. Well folks the movie is finally out, and I can honestly say I was blown away. This movie far exceeded all of my expectations which were somewhat pessimistically low. I'll avoid plot points for a while to give everyone some time to go see it, but holy shit, if you like planes then you ought to go see this movie! I highly recommend!
  21. I saw this video this morning and boy have I been looking forward to this one. Mike has really put out some of the best instructional videos out there, and this was the one I was waiting for. I was gonna put this in the DCS section, but really these concepts are applicable to all aircraft right down to the canvas birds, so I thought I'd put it out here. There are three main talking points, and Mike breaks down the exact logic and reasoning of when and why to use all of them. - The Tighten Down (TD) - Pulling harder than sustained for a short duration to spoil a guns solution, or at least make it more difficult. - The Out of Plane Maneuver (OOP) - Pushing the stick forward to unload the Gs from the aircraft, rolling your lift vector out of plane, and then resuming a sustained turn. - The Jink - Throttle to idle, roll OOP with lift vector underneath the bandit, and pull to maximum deflection until the aircraft stalls. My big takeaways were on the OOP maneuver and the jink. The OOP takes far less roll to make it effective than I thought, and there is an awesome clip of Mike doing three or four OOPs in succession where if you imagine lining up a solution you can tell how frustrating it would be to get hits. Finally, on the jink I never realized quite how violent it was supposed to be, and this shows why it should be your last ditch move. All-in-all, I think this is one of the best videos to watch if you want to make yourself a harder target.
  22. Don't I know it! I thought after hours and hours of circle climbing around an airfield in sims was going to make me a pro at doing it in real life, but I really didn't realize how many servers have no wind turned on. Obviously in real life it just ain't that simple...
  23. That's a great idea, Mox! I'll have to try it to identify the issue. My PSU is a fully modular EVGA one, and it's an 800watt Gold 2 if my memory serves. It should be far more than needed.
  24. XMP won't even post!! That why I am confused. I set XMP 1, but then manually slowed the RAM to 3000mhz. I will checkout meanest though!
  25. They've been talking about this for a while, but I think they are legitimately close.
