    Major glitch was the Central side performed Spy mission but received no secondary target.

     

    This has not happened before. I checked all the parameters and they look intact. Not sure what happened. System overload and it skipped it?

     

    Still checking.

     

     

    Second minor glitch was that it was actually the program for session 2 not session 1. Same planes just the even map instead of odd.

     

    So, this week in NA we will run the second session, the even map. Saturday in Europe we will run the session 1 mission or, the odd map.

     

    We will be back on track at session 3.

     

    Stats for the Sat Oct 10 mission are not available. Hardy is checking the server.

     

    May have to reload the parser programs  :( . That is a lot of work.

    Those of you that have bombed the Artillery secondary targets, have had the thrill of seeing the moving horses and gun carriages.

     

    The moving horses was the suggestion of J5_Chunko.  

     

    It looks great and does not add any extra load on the game.

    Got some inside information from 777.

     

    There will be a minor update tomorrow. They are finally going to fix the FM on the Fe2b by giving it the 300 hp Rolls Royce engine. The S-16 is also getting an upgrade to the 130 hp Bentley and twin guns as standard. 

     

    Please be sure to download the patch tomorrow and update your game.

    For planes you have to download the template from RoF useful materials page. Best to make a copy somewhere. The templates are in many layers. Not all planes have the same number or type. Layers can be parts, shadows, markings, all sorts of things. The really big deal is that you have to eventually flatten all the layers and save as a .DDS file. Just before doing that you will want to save it in a photoshop format. That way you can always go back and make changes.

     

    The .DDS thingie is a plug in that only works in a 32 bit format.

    JG1 Server is running the Tarnopol map. This is the map for FIF XXII. This is not the plane set that will be used. The planes here were done for other tests.

     

    This is to test Horses and wagons as a target instead of vehicles or tanks.

     

    Grab a strutter at Ankjzobov, southern Russian base.  At the end of the runway is the standard buildings used for a target. Around the buildings are several wagons and horses. Kill any 4 and you get a target killed message. The server resets in 30 seconds..

     

    The test is not so much killing the horses but also how well they can be seen from a distance.

  7. The next FiF should start with the Saturday mission.

     

    No need to change anything except maybe raise the number of points to 77?  Why 77? I don't know it just sounds like some number I hear a lot. 

     

     

    One of the really great suggestions came up when Stubby and I  were working on the England map.  The Idea was that it was not the total number of missions but who could win 2 missions in a row. The catch is that the next mission is a re-supply mission for the looser. If their re-supply mission is successful then both sides are back to wining 2 in a row.  Very open ended. Very indeterminate. There is just one catch....... Designing a good resupply mission.   Any ideas?

    just went through this.  installed Nvidia 970 gtx. Used Nvidia simple control panel and set it to quality. Set rof all to max except anti ailiasing and anisotropic filter. they at 2. Post effects at HDR high. Ground looks great. not sure I like the blood and oil. Rain and snow ok. FPS limit at 60.  It almost never drops below 60.

     

    Installed Samsung 850 SSD  500g. it comes with clone software. tried it. crashed. tried loading from windows repair disk and system image. Repair disk does not like the SSD and the format of the image disk was not appropriate.  Spent 2 days trying to get it to work.  Finally saw video on another clone program  Macrium reflect.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jh4uRhWwZT0  .

     

    Worked fine. I plugged my ssd into a secondary drive slot. cloned my HD. took over 3 hours , 250 gig of data and my HD is slow. Unplugged the HD. switched the SSD to my Boot disk slot and it brought up windows in half the time it takes my modem to boot up. 

     

     

    I have had the same gigundo tower case since 2000 when I put together my first machine. I just keep updating. It is wide enough that I use a monster turbo heat sink and fan. cost about $35. I7 3770.  Runs under 50 degrees C. usually around 42  to 48.

    "If a pilot crashes in friendly territory and survives the event, that pilot may switch to a new aircraft and take off again from his original aerodrome provided that another aircraft is available at the discretion of the CO and after a 5 minute timeout.

    As long as the game does not list you as dead, you can refly as a pilot after a 5 minute time out.  You have unlimited lives as a gunner.

     

    If you land behind enemy lines you are captured and can no longer fly as a pilot. The exception to that is the "Spy " mission which must land behind enemy lines.

    This Wen, March 11 at 9 pm  Eastern North American time, we will have an open mission on No.42 server.

     

    Many of the people involved in Flanders in Flames have said they would like to see some of the features used in FiF in an open format. Well, we are going to give it a try.

     

    The mission is  "Beaucamp revisited". (Brideshead was already taken)

     

    Features:

     

    There is an AAA fence along the front. Machine guns were found to be ineffective. If you fly below 1000 m over enemy trenches you will be shot at by a series of deadly AAA guns. You might survive but odds are not good. This raises the action up off the ground, at least along the front.

     

    Balloons will flare but do not provide radar. Balloons do not respawn.

     

    There are 2 recon areas. They are separate missions but can be done by one plane. The plane must have the Photo load out. The recon plane must land at an active friendly base.  When completed, each Recon mission will create a new bomber target. When landing, stay on the field for at least 30 seconds to see what targets are created. Rear area recon will create a Reserve Unit target. Front line recon will create a  Front line unit target. When activated these targets will have a circle over them on the map. They will be at a named village and be given a sector location. These targets are stationary. A vehicle unit or tank unit is 3 of the named unit plus a AAA truck. All 4 items must be destroyed. Sometimes a Reserve unit may be a ship. It will be stationary at the named location.

     

    The aerodrome and the factory are heavily defended and should be level bombed from above 1500 m. Above this level there are only 2 AAA guns. Below that level there are 6 AAA guns. The factory is designated by the usual icon. The Aerodrome target will have a circle around it. Gotha and HP400 are air start for this. Please check your fuel. 30% should be plenty.

     

    There are a set of moving tanks( 3 tanks and an AAA truck) a train and a ship moving on a river. These targets are somewhere on the map and must be found. When destroyed an icon will appear on the map with an X. These targets may change location from mission to mission. 

     

    Destroyed targets will have an X over them. This way people can easily see what has been done. There is also a repeating list of targets to help people know what needs to be done.

     

    First team to accomplish all 9 missions wins.

     

     

    Because the location of the Moving tanks, train, moving ship, reserve unit and front line unit are a random spawn of 1 out of 4, this gives the mission a high degree of variation in re-playability.   You may see many of these locations repeatedly but not always.

     

     

    While this sounds very involved, it is not.  It is very similar to many of the missions on open servers. The main differences are the hidden targets and the AAA along the front.

     

    Instead of killing a factory and spawning a repair crew, you have a recon where the observer tells you he saw another target. 

     

    Once played it becomes very familiar. When played again it is still familiar but different.
