Butzzell Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 S! Not sure how this game will play out. It is going to be a super huge MMO. A cross between EVE and WoW. It is designed for a Saitec Rhino and Oculus rift flight control demonstration Quote
Klaiber Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 That's extremely impressive! I've been following Star Citizen for a while. And am really glad to see that you, Britchot, Lipfert, Wolf and others are interested in it too. Quote
Britchot Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 Trev is also looking forward to it. We were in the original Kickstarter campaign and have been patiently not spending more money. Karl Spackler 1 Quote
Somnus Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 It makes me sad, because I"m pretty sure I won't be able to run it. Quote
Britchot Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 I flew the latest update and they dropped the rudder pedal movement for a twist grip, so that drops just a little immersion in my book but I don't really look at my feet when I fly. The interface for setting up the controls is a little bit better and they added inversions to the axes, so my confusion with roll is gone. I still like the X axis for yaw and Z for roll, it's not like a plane but in my mind, it's how a spaceship should fly. The strafing movements make it quite fun to fly and shoot. It's starting to feel more and more like a space simulator, I'm liking it! Quote
Somnus Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Is it all combat focused? That's what the trailer looks like. Quote
Britchot Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Combat is only a part of it. Of course, combat seems to be what gamers gravitate towards. You can do all merchant if you'd like, as well. Running trades and supplies, that's definitely a big part of it. Also, medic seems to be an option. I'm sure that combat is not all that you can do in the game. We'll see once the actual game comes out, though. Quote
Britchot Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 Trev is also looking forward to it. We were in the original Kickstarter campaign and have been patiently not spending more money. So I watched "The Martian" the other day then promptly dropped an extra bit on the Cutlass Red this last week. It's pretty much a space ambulance and I'm planning on doing CSAR related tasks with it, maybe have some Hornets fly escort, that sort of thing. Space-PJs! They've released an in browser ARK Starmap which is a 3D map of the initial universe. I spent a bit of time planning jumps around the universe. Travel is going to be pretty interesting, I'm looking forward to flying connections to other players, missions, and slipping through hostile areas like anti-terrorism practices train (vary your routes!). The game is still a ways off but I'm excited again, anyway. Still just sitting back, though. Karl Spackler and Zerfass 2 Quote
Somnus Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 I think when it gets closer to being done, and they've nailed specs down, I might just upgrade to be able to play it. I need a good space game, and Elite just wasn't it! Quote
Mauler Mithel Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 I have a few ships in my hangar already. Some of the ships are flawless, while others are very buggy. I have been waiting for them to allow us to buy a capital ship (I would like to grab at least a frigate, not so much the destroyers) with life time insurance.... if they do that I may have to drop that very large dollar. My GTX 980ti, i7-4930K has had some stuttering, but the whole thing is very wonky. However it is an Alpha, so what do you expect. Quote
Klaiber Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 I can't help but love Elite. Especially the direction they're planning on going in. But I'm very excited about Star Citizen too. Quote
Britchot Posted February 8, 2016 Report Posted February 8, 2016 This guy made a bunch of videos using the game engine. A lot of it is just raw code so certainly things don't move as they are supposed to and he can manipulate the characters and lighting a bit more. Anyway, he showcased the Cutlass Red, this is what I've been envisioning, except with an escort or two! Quote
Klaiber Posted February 8, 2016 Report Posted February 8, 2016 That's really cool! I will give it to Star Citizen. I looks amazing. Quote
Karl Spackler Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 At very least you'll have one Tracker riding shotgun... This guy made a bunch of videos using the game engine. A lot of it is just raw code so certainly things don't move as they are supposed to and he can manipulate the characters and lighting a bit more. Anyway, he showcased the Cutlass Red, this is what I've been envisioning, except with an escort or two! Quote
Karl Spackler Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 The P-52 and P-72 have a Howard Hughes/Battlestar Galactica feel that I like. I also very much dig the Endeavour class, the Reliants Kore mini-hauler (has a YT-2400 vibe to it), the Reclaimer, the Starfarers, Quote
