Karl Spackler Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 Mike Mangold (Red Bull) died flying an L-39 today at Apple Valley Airport (KAPV). I never met him personally but I would taxi past his hangarwhen I was flying out of Midfield Aviation and see his airplanes. He served his country as an F-4 Rhino driver and inspired thousands during his 25 year aerobatic and air racing career. CAVU Mike. Zerfass 1 Quote

Lipfert Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 Very sad news, when pilots like this die it always has me question if us weekenders should even be flying. I still remember being in shock with Renaud Ecalle died, how this happens is beyond me. Here is a free program tribute to Renaud Ecalle, such an amazing pilot: WAC 2009 Program with in Cockpit: Quote
Vonrd Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 Very sad indeed but I would venture that he died doing what he loved. Quote
