Becoming a real pilot, and other aviation opportunities

I see guys getting started (zero time) in their 50's.  You have to realize that the aviation industry is EXPLODING as in ANYONE with an airplane is making money.  These people are DESPERATE.

Good grief, not only did they give ENVOY the highest pay scale among AMR non-AA  (f/0 +6% Capt. +10%) but if you do NOT have an offer from AA in FIVE (5) years, then you go to MAX pay at Envoy as in 20 year pay.  That's insane, but also a way to keep older guys that don't want to transition to the main carrier and start all over (it's a load, I was an instructor on the MD-80 for AA)

Not hard to find this stuff:

Airline Training Programs™ / ATP Flight School

Industry-Transforming pay for Envoy pilots | Envoy Air

So I had a quick Surf through this, shot out a bunch of emails and looked at the pay and reimbursement scales. Here's some of the things that stood out to me:

Most of the Cadet programs want you to go to an Accelerated school such as ATP or Embry Riddle, they then turn around and hire you as a CFI where you went to school right after you're done to have you as an asset, help you repay your loans from training AND build hours simultaneously.

The better Part 121 Cadet programs seem to pay for about 1/4-1/2 of your training expenses.

They have Corporate/private jet partners, not just major 121's

Key Lime and Empire Air Cargo, as well as a few of the corporate partners can put you in as a Part 91 or 135 PIC in a single seater OR a SIC in a twin seat at anywhere between the 450-1200 Hr Total-Time range, which is really good for the diversity of your flight experience AND your career prospects if you don't want or don't get picked up by one of the major airline's regional feeder programs.

This was hanging in my flt doc’s office and has been passed after retirement on to my current doc I’ve been seeing for over 10 years. My doc has helped many ppl get or keep their medical (including me when I had issues years ago with kidney stones). I’ve heard horror stories about other flight docs though so like I said it’s important to research who you go to.

I love flying, and I really would love to do it regularly, but gliding seems like the only way I can actually do that, and I am really hoping I love it.

Gliding brought the love of flying back to me.  I got burnt out on time building and IFR currency flights, soaring changed all that and made me a better pilot.

AMR ENCORE is paying $120,000 sign on for someone with NO license at all...   go from ZERO to HERO in 4 years using that bonus to pay for your training. If you already have a PPL they knock off a big chunk of cash... I THINK it is $20,000.... if you have the MEI they knock off another $4,000

Who is AMR Encore? My interest is a tad piqued.

Aerobatics did the same for me.
