The Times 25 October 1916 British Flyers Secure the Skies: A Day of Decisive Strikes in the Aerial Theatre of War By Our Special Correspondent at the Somme Amidst the muddy, shell-ravaged landscape of the Somme, British and allied aviators soared to hard-fought success in yet another phase of the Great War’s deadly aerial struggle. Reports from the front indicate that, after a day of intense action, our brave Blue team, representing the forces of the Entente, triumphed with a score of 8 points over the German Red team’s 5 points, proving once more the indomitable spirit of British aviators and their allies. In a masterfully executed Artillery Spotting mission, Blue forces brought about the complete destruction of a crucial German ammunition depot, striking at the heart of the enemy's supply line. Our aviators also carried out precise strikes on a German troop encampment, achieving a 50% reduction of the forces stationed there, a blow to the enemy’s front-line strength. Furthermore, a well-aimed sortie targeted a German factory, halving its productive capacity and no doubt diminishing the enemy’s ability to replenish their military resources. The German Red team, though putting up a resolute defense, was limited in its successes. Their fliers managed to damage a British factory by a quarter and scored destruction upon a supply convoy as well as artillery guns positioned along the front. Despite these efforts, the enemy’s gains paled in comparison to the strategic advantage secured by the Entente forces. This day’s triumph, while encouraging, reminds us of the enduring tenacity of our fliers, who take to the skies each day with nerves of steel and unwavering loyalty to the cause. Their efforts continue to inspire hope and confidence in eventual victory, as the fight rages on both in the air and across the bloodied fields below. The Kingdom stands behind our heroes of the sky, emboldened by their courage and skill. May their valor bring us ever closer to peace and victory. God Save the King!

Today’s reports from the front lines indicate that our intrepid aviators of the Blue team, representing the German Empire, have fought bravely but were narrowly outscored by the enemy's Red team, who amassed 9 points to our 5. With determined resolve, the Red team succeeded in a crucial Artillery Spotting mission, resulting in the destruction of an important ammunition depot. In addition, they achieved a partial success against a troop encampment, eliminating approximately one-quarter of the forces stationed there. The Entente aviators pressed their advantage further by decimating a supply convoy and halting a troop train, adding to the day's challenges. Despite these setbacks, our gallant Blue team inflicted a significant blow to the enemy’s industrial efforts by annihilating a key Factory target. This 100% destruction will no doubt impair the enemy's war supplies and hinder their ability to sustain this bloody struggle. Furthermore, our aviators inflicted a 25% loss on a Red troop encampment, demonstrating once again the accuracy and mettle of our flying corps. As autumn deepens on this battle-scarred soil, the strength and bravery of our men are undiminished. Reports from the field indicate that the Blue team, representing the forces of Germany, secured a modest but noteworthy advantage, having scored 8 points out of a possible 20. Their adversaries, the Red team, comprising the forces of the Entente, followed closely behind, tallying 6 points in their daring efforts. Despite the narrow margin, the outcome of individual missions paints a telling picture of the airmen’s valor. The Red team achieved success in their Arty Spot mission, a feat that saw the destruction of a strategic target, surely a blow to the enemy’s ground positions.
