These guys are living the high life. NSFW warning, video might contain sexy warbirds!
Note how the pilot straightens the plane on the runway when rolling (haven't we all done that in the MiG-21?) and how the ventral fin extends downwards upon the retraction of the landing gear.

A little change of pace from my usual stuff...
Racing around Circuit de la Sarthe. At night. In a monstrous Group 5 Kremer Porsche 935 K3. In a gaggle of Le Mans prototypes.
This may well be the most epic automotive video I've ever seen (and I'm not even a Porsche guy!). If you're a petrolhead then it's an absolute must-watch. Our JG1RT members will love this.

While we are on the topic of family heirlooms: I still have a clock which used to belong to my grandfather. The details are a bit muddled (he died when I was three years old so I couldn't ask him myself) but according to my mum he took it out of his own or his friends Bf 109 after he or his friend crash landed over france. According to "family legend" the clock still shows the time of the crash since nobody has fiddled with it since. Its a Junghaus J30Bz. It doesnt work and the brezel as well as a lever below the knob on the button has been broken off.

It's a quick read. What do you think about this article? I think it's funny that a site called "Historynet" doesn't date some (none that I've read) articles.

I've read somewhere that they contacted actual MiG-23 pilots to make sure everything is accurate. I sure as hell hope that's the case.
On a slightly different note, I Iove the camo scheme on Cuban Floggers.

I finally threw caution to the wind and splashed out on a pair of the TM Cougar MFD's, tragically however I only had one spare USB slot on my hub so I've ordered a larger one. Too many peripherals for simming!!! As a result only one is powered up but it looks really awesome. Will have to print off some inserts that better reflect the F-16C in DCS, think I'll print off one for the FCR page and one for the HSD which looks quite a bit different.

I fear this is but the beginning of me building my own sim pit as I've been looking at UFC panels too, there's a nice one for the A-10C which would serve well and it's in a nice form factor too. Some of them have absolutely massive housings on them.
I'm sorry wallet... it's for a good cause!

They didnt kill modding, they killed the ability to create or modify weapons systems. Very nearly every weapon system (read bomb, missile etc) is already in the game. Having some oversight in how each system works I dont see as necessarily a bad thing.
The only aspect of the A4 it would have killed was the HARM as that was new to DCS.

Oh I agree on RAZBAM and their reliability, it's why I'm still very skeptical on the F-15E. The Harrier however has come a long way and I really enjoy flying it now, next to the F-16C it's one of my favourites as its so unique to fly compared to other modules.

The Mirage 2000C, with all the influence from Escadron 2/5, I have to believe it has a lot of realism implemented.  Way beyond what the armchair pilots complain about on the forums.

So take a break from the forum for a couple of days and this thread shows up... Suddenly everyone's gotten very excited.
Okay, let's address these one by one...
@Klaiber, I never knew about that MiG-17 project, I'm really excited for it! Looks like a good match for the upcoming F-8 and A-6. We're about halfway towards building a sensible lineup of Vietnam-era warbirds. Now, if someone could please make the naval F-4 as well as the F-105... I wouldn't mind an early Fishbed either.
@Yogi, I'd like to be excited about Razbam's progress with the Flogger, but a) they have a lot on their plate already, b) I'll believe it when I see it. Razbam's reputation has taken a hit for good reason, so I'll withhold my judgement for now. The Flogger is one of my favourite aircraft ever, so I really hope they get it right the first time. I wouldn't read too much into the order of modules on their Discord server - the Falklands map seems fairly well developed at this stage, and yet it's quite far down on this list.
As for the Su-22, we're still not sure whether it's going to be made by Magnitude3 (see Christmas teaser) or the Red Star team. Either way it's still years from release... Which is a shame, because REDFOR desperately needs mud movers. I, for one, would LOVE to fly the Fitter in Polish colours.
@Pragr, the Polish Air Force still flies the Su-22, so if you'd like to experience that incredible feeling again then you should come to Poland - every once in a while they do formation fly-bys at airshows. The thunder those Lyulka engines generate is quite something.
@Vogel, I've heard somewhere Razbam decided to redo the MiG-23 model from scratch... And it shows. It's a quality model for sure, but what I'm really hoping for is that they get all the systems right.
For what it's worth, I'd like to be excited but I can't fail to notice a pattern here... I would love nothing more than a full set of 1970s and early 80s REDFOR aircraft, but it's going to take a while before any of these projects comes to fruition. Apologies for peeing on your fireplace chaps, but us Cold War lot are pretty far down on the order of ED's priorities now. All they want is a steady flow of revenue from the cash cows that are modern US-made aircraft (with the occasional Hind thrown in as a token gesture towards nerds like us).
