wheelsup_cavu got a reaction from Klaiber in What are you listening to?I have been flying the IL-2 Box series and not much else lately. I fire up 1946 once in awhile but none of my squadron mates are interested in it any longer. I used to live in the FMB in 1946 but even that has fallen by the wayside. I tried to find a way to like it but I despise the FMB in the BoX series.

It has been a few minutes since my last visit. Hopefully All, Y'all's, are doing reasonably well and I will see everyone next time I am in town. 😎

wheelsup_cavu got a reaction from Klaiber in What are you reading?I have seen the first couple of seasons of the Reacher series on Amazon Prime starring Alan Ritchson so now I am going to start giving the books a read. It's likely not in order of publish date but a friend loaned it to me so I started with In Too Deep.

wheelsup_cavu got a reaction from Klaiber in What are you watching?I watched all 4 episodes of the 4 part docuseries Tyson (IMDb link) on Netflix a couple of days ago. If you have followed Mike's career over the years this documentary series doesn't really cover much new ground. I personally enjoyed watching the series just to see Mike but don't expect any hidden or up until now unknown revelations about his life or career.
One final note, Love him or hate Mike after he went professional and ended up retiring boxing has never been as exciting as it was during his ascension to the title in his early career. He definitely did seem invincible during that rise. Imo, you had to witness his career as it happened because archival film and interviews just does not do the buzz a fight of his generated during that era justice.

wheelsup_cavu reacted to Vonrd in What are you listening to?I'm pretty sure she was universally respected, liked and even loved. A real class act even though she said "It takes a lot of money to look this trashy". We lost a special one. This brings tears to my eyes:

wheelsup_cavu reacted to Stuka in Jason Williams & his new sim "Combat Pilot"S! guys!
Jason posted on Linkedin that he leaved CP project!
Post | LinkedIn (pls, see screen attached)
But a few hours later I went to his post and it wasn't there.
Maybe he regretted it.
Btw, I was in a business trip but could take some hours with Free Trial of Carrier Qualification, and I liked what I saw.

wheelsup_cavu got a reaction from Klaiber in What are you watching?I just finished binge watching Best Medicine (imdb link) on Netflix yesterday. I enjoyed the series and got hooked into the storylines of each character. For me the first season was a 7/10 stars.
The series which originally aired on Fox TV in early January 2026 has been renewed for a second season and according to IMDb the first and second episode of season 2 will be airing on Fox on Tuesday September 22, 2026.

wheelsup_cavu got a reaction from Britchot in The end of HyperlobbyIt has been several years since the heyday of Hyperlobby and Jiri announced recently that he will be closing the Hyberlobby forums. The game server has already been disabled.
The last time Jiri updated the Hyperlobby program was four years ago, v4.3.7, and I never got the impression that the update was enough to get Players back into using it.

For those that still remember their login credentials and want to pass on their thanks or memories to Jiri using Hyperlobby before the final shut down of the site Phantom17 has started a thread at Hyperlobby that fits the bill.
Thanks for 25 years: https://hyperfighter.sk/ftopict-10530.html

wheelsup_cavu reacted to Vonrd in Vonrd's trip to BajaWent to visit Mike and Cholie. Mike and I were Best Buds through High school. We were in jazz, concert and marching band and also dedicated surfers. I hadn't seen him for 47 years. He owns Cowabunga Hotel and Bungalows in San Juanico, BCS, a very remote fishing village (no post office, no Amazon delivery, no gas station, no cell service, the town just got municipal electricity 6 months ago) and EVERYONE is very friendly and seem content. wheelsup_cavu got a reaction from Klaiber in Enigma In Flying CircusAfter flying WW2 birds those WW1 kites are so blamed slow. Most of them are quite fragile too if you dive too fast. Plus my gunnery is bad enough in the WW2 birds but in those WW1 kites I can't even hit the ground consistently. 🙃

wheelsup_cavu reacted to Vonrd in WWI Torpedo bombingSomeone asked last night if torpedo bombing was a thing in WWI.
On 12 August 1915, a Royal Naval Air Service Short 184 floatplane torpedo bomber sank a Turkish merchantman in the Sea of Marmara. It was operating from HMS Ben-my-Chree, a seaplane carrier converted from a ferry. Fitted with an aircraft hangar, Ben-my-Chree was used to carry up to six biplanes with their wings folded back to reduce carrying space.
This was the first ship sunk by air-launched torpedo. Five days later, another ship supplying Turkish forces in the Gallipoli campaign against British, Australian and New Zealand troops was also sunk.
Production of the Short 184 continued until after the Armistice of 11 November 1918, with a total of 936 built by several manufacturers. It served in eight navies, including the Imperial Japanese Navy, which built them under licence.[7]
