Vonrd Posted May 10, 2024 Report Posted May 10, 2024 $3,990 That would buy a rockin PC (or a good PC plus a Quest, Pimax Light or Big Screen Beyond). Still, I have a Lotto ticket waiting to see if I won. Still, would be interesting to try. I've only experienced a full motion sim once (Beech Premier @ Flight Safety) and it's the only time that I experienced motion sickness. I've got hundreds of hours in RL aerobatics but that induced the hurls. Probably because it was "close" to reality but not really. My brain got all mixed up. Flyboy and Klaiber 2 Quote

I've got about 1,700 hours in full motion flight sims (including as AF instructor) and have never had a problem. I know if they aren't synced right it can cause problems and I've also known people to get dizzy and feel worse trying to fly it with the motion off because of the disconnect between the eyes and body (my wife tried it once with the motion off and lasted about 2 seconds). The AF museum here in Dayton has a full motion "play" sim that even goes upside down that I tried with my brother (one of us flew and the other operated the weapons) and I was ok with that too. The professional sims have a whole crew of maintenance techs to keep them tuned and working, so not sure how a home motion sim will fare over time. We have enough problems keeping our systems running smoothly without adding another expensive layer of complexity like this. There is a place in Columbus (https://takeflightohio.com/) that gives you an airline sim experience in a full sim, though I don't think it has motion. There are also places around the country you can rent a professional aviation sim for an hour with an instructor (including here in Wilmington on B-767 at ATSG/ABX Air), but the price will prob be $600 or more an hour depending on airplane. I know there are a lot of FBO/small aircraft training facilities that are using sims (with and without motion) but they won't be as good as the bigger stuff. Â Â Snaggle 1 Quote
Snaggle Posted May 10, 2024 Report Posted May 10, 2024 I only have a seat mover and in VR I have had people get sick... Me obviously no issue. By the video looks like they had the motion a bit extreme... Flyboy 1 Quote
Labroisse Posted May 12, 2024 Report Posted May 12, 2024 On top of the $4K I'd have to pay for the divorce lawyer so think I'll pass. Snaggle, Flyboy, Klaiber and 4 others 7 Quote
