Klaiber Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 http://www.theverge.com/2015/8/8/9118119/bugatti-100p-reve-blue-kickstarter-first-flight Was sent this link, and thought it was interesting. Can't wait to see the replica of the Bugatti Model 100 in the air! Here is a video of the replica during engine and taxi tests: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/525000827/reve-bleu-bugattis-blue-dream-will-finally-fly/posts/1314961 Quote
Britchot Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 I would fly to every airport with a tower and taxi to go get fuel. It would be worth ever bit to see the looks and field the questions. Quote
Vonrd Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 I remember seeing an article on this in a magazine... Air and Space? What a beauty! Tre Bienne! Quote
Zerfass Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 Bugatti 100P is on my list of airplanes I want to scratch build models of.. (R/C model aircraft) I'll have to show you all my warbirds one day. Quote
Britchot Posted August 12, 2015 Report Posted August 12, 2015 Definitely, I'm waiting on the album Quote

Klaiber Posted August 25, 2015 Author Report Posted August 25, 2015 That's amazing! It looks like the nose over didn't damage it too much. Can't wait for them to take it up again! Quote
Vonrd Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) It's flown! What a sound that contra prop / engine makes! (That castoring tailwheel looks a bit sketchy during the T/O roll). First flight: https://www.facebook.com/TheBugatti100pProject/videos/843683509042123/ More videos: https://www.facebook.com/TheBugatti100pProject/videos?fref=photo EDIT: should have read the posts above. Klaiber Posted October 5, 2015 Author Report Posted October 5, 2015 It is a thing of beauty though. Quote
Hans von Freden Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 I'm sorry to have to be the one to address the elephant in the room here, but that aircraft is quite possibly the ugliest aircraft of all time. I thought the Do 335 was ugly! Peeeeee Uuuuuuuuuuu !!! LoL Quote
Klaiber Posted October 5, 2015 Author Report Posted October 5, 2015 Haha. I love it because it's art deco, yet flyable. It reminds me of something out of a 1930s Flash Gordon serial. I do wonder about landing, though. Must be impossible to see where you're going before the nose comes down. Quote

Way to get around that, called "S taxing," effectively taxi in an S pattern, all tail dragger pilots especially military ones HAD to do that and look out the side of the canopy. My dad had a Glasair 3 and you could NOT see over the nose on the ground at all. He nearly put a backup camera on the cowling haha Quote
