Sounds good! Could possibly shadow the general's convoy until he arrives at a good landing location before commencing your attack. Adds another element besides the simple "seek and destroy" idea.

Welcome aboard Ian! Getting a joystick would probably be a good idea. You can only be so good with a mouse and keyboard imho. May I recommend this model? It's cheap, but fairly reliable and gives ya lots of programmable buttons. Welcome! Like the others have said, I'm looking forward to flying with you! We have several ex-military guys here, so I've got a feeling you'll fit right in.

Ok guys...you convinced me. Just downloaded ARMA 3 on Steam. My first discovery is that I can't hit spit with my machine gun. In the training I'm supposed to knock down a drone with a machine gun. No luck. I tried explaining to my officer that I'm an expert in air-to-air machine gunnery, but he didn't seem all that impressed. I expected a learning curve, so I'll just keep at it.

I'm thinking about venturing into the world of first-person shooters and am considering purchasing Arma 3. https://arma3.com/ Does anybody here have experience in the Arma series? If so, would you mind answering a few questions I have about it? I have 3 younger brothers who watch me a lot, so would Arma 3 be appropriate content-wise for them to see? I'd be the only one playing it, but they often look over to see what I'm doing on my PC. Here's what I'm looking for in a shooter: - No zombies, aliens, or sci-fi storylines - Realistic military action, more towards simulation than arcade - No excessive profanity (some's probably inevitable, but not every other word) - No excessive gore (who needs to see guts, brains, and entrails?) - No torture or super-dark storylines - No gangsta-type games. I want military! Any input would be appreciated. S! - Hotlead

Hi Razwald! The freeze would be a glitch from ShadowPlay. I've been using it for a year now, and never had it impact game performance. I love ShadowPlay because it's so simple: if something memorable happens, just hit a hotkey and your last 5 mins of flight are recorded in a few seconds. However, this does mean that there might be the occasional stutter in the playback file. S! - Hotlead

Hey all! I’ve had an idea that’s been growing on me for a while now. Ever since I upgraded to more-powerful PC, I’ve been using NVIDIA ShadowPlay to record a lot of the dogfights I’ve been in. After the action, I often review these to see where I could improve – what worked and what didn’t. Anyway, I thought it would be nice for others to learn from my experiences as well, so I’ve turned a few of them into videos. They will be part of a new series on my YouTube channel called “Hindsight Combat Evaluations.†I’ll release a new one each weekend for 4 weeks, starting now. The purpose of these videos is to show the application (or lack thereof) of combat principles “in the heat of battle.†You’ll catch some of my awesome moments, some of my not-so-awesome moments, and everything in between as we take each video and break it down to learn from it. Also, I’d like to say that I am not the end-all be-all expert when it comes to my analysis of the videos. If you have input you would like to contribute, feel free to post below.
