S! All, JG1 is proud to present the Flanders In Flames Online War! For those unfamiliar with Flanders In Flames (FIF), or it's long history within the virtual First World War online flight community, FIF is a homegrown online tournament that uses the Rise of Flight flight simulator. First created for Red Baron 3D in October 1999 by JG1's Ernst von Leep and Paul Lowengrin, FIF has always been designed to provide participants with the most realistic campaign experience possible. Emphasis is placed on creating historically inspired dogfights and aircraft match-ups. Two-seater missions are thus vital, and the repercussions of lost resources on both supply and mission capabilities heavily affect the outcome of campaigns. FIF is a "dead-is-dead" style event. This means that each player will only have one pilot life per night. If the player is killed, or captured, they are done for that mission. Further, FIF does not make use any type of scripted missions. As a result, tournament play is allowed to flow naturally between the two established teams - the Central Powers (Mittelmächte) and the Entente Powers. Both of these teams have their own Command, and it is these individuals who determine what the operation orders will be for each side. There are definitely some amazing shots in it. Things I've never seen before. It looks like it's a compilation of film done in a couple of volumes. Some of the footage looks like it was taken from before September 1917. And other parts look like they're from October 1918. I give those dates because of who the film includes. You can see Werner Voss at 20:12 in his Dr.1 (Fok FI 103/17). He died in September 1917. You can also see a post-head wound Manfred von Richthofen, starting at 21:44. First with his father Albrecht (I think). Then with his own pilots (probably Jasta 11) on the stairs to what I think is Roucourt Castle. And then with his dog Moritz (and Moritz' canine friends) on the steps to what I think is Roucourt Castle. The film also includes Hermann Göring in his red and white Fokker D.VII, seen in cockpit at 3:56, and then later on the ground, holding Richthofen's old geschwaderstock (walking stick). Jasta 6 is prominently shown at 2:00, with their Fokker D.VIIs. They show up again at 5:11. Jasta 11's Fokker D.VIIs show up at 2:58. I haven't had the chance to watch all of it. But I can already tell you that I unfortunately don't recognize all of the pilots. Perhaps others can (Lee or Butzzell?).

Hey c4nucK, It's great to hear from you! But I'm really sorry to hear about your injury. As Brit says, torn ligaments are no joke. So I wish you a very speedy recovery! Either way, good luck with the job hunt. We're all rooting for you!

PS: the Prien books are HUGE by the way. The library where I work has them and they are very massive.

I *think* Defending the Reich: the History of Jagdgeschwader 1 "Oesau" is an out of print early version of Defenders of the Reich. But it's so hard to tell.
