So the touchpad arrived! I'm at work so I haven't been able to try it out while flying yet, but I plugged it in to the MacBook here and it was recognized and worked immediately. The sensitivity is nice, not too fast or slow. I'll try it out tonight in the sim and see how precise it is! (fingers for scale) It came in this envelope. The back of the touchpad is just the soft side of velcro, and then it comes with the corresponding hook side with a sticky back, and then also one with a foam back. Not sure what that second one is for... Construction seems cheap but effective, not cheap in the "it'll break soon" sense.

I think when it gets closer to being done, and they've nailed specs down, I might just upgrade to be able to play it. I need a good space game, and Elite just wasn't it!

So DCS is great, the clickable cockpit switches really add a lot to immersion. However, desk spacing can present a problem. Currently I have my mouse sitting to the outside of my stick. This is usually not a problem, but sometimes when I need to hit a switch, it means either reaching across with my left hand, or taking my hand of the stick. Not so good. I have limited space on the left side of the desk, and I can't get the hang of left handed mouse control. So, I found this. I just ordered one, and I'll let you all know how it works! www.ergonomictouch.com

JG I "Richthofen" - FIFXXIIIa Session 1A (13 January 2016)

Congrats, and good flying! *salute* -
For anyone out there who would like to learn to fly an aircraft in DCS, but is intimidated by reading through the often-times 300-600 page manuals, this guy named Chuck has created some amazing PDF guides filled with pictures that cover the basics you need to know to get up in the air, fly, land and use weapons effectively. I've used them both as a supplement after reading the official manual, and for other aircraft as a prequel, getting me up in the air so that I then know what I need to go back and learn in more depth. Both ways have been very effective! To view his guides, click here. ~S! - Somnus

This is definitely something to keep an eye on. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=153020

Indeed! The biggest part of it for me is the model enlargement. I can actually see things now!

This looks awesome! I can't wait to see it! -
What is your current OS? And other related questions!

I did an in-place upgrade from Windows 7 and had no real issues. I just needed to reinstall my freetrack drivers. Everything else worked alright though! -
Yeah, I kept waiting for them to get to the Dr.I but they never did.

The PBS program Nova has done a brilliant show on the development of the WWI air war. It's on Netflix if anyone is interested. Very interesting and I personally learned a lot! It does a good job showing the pendulum swinging back and forth between British and German air superiority as technology develops.

@britchot Yeah, that line was great! He got it right after, and that growling tone got my adrenaline pumping! @f0x Well, with DCS the biggest problem right now is being able to pick the d*amn planes up visually! Of course, that's not so much a problem the more modern you go, but still! I need to find some time to get start flying DCS again. Maybe with the release of 1.5 or 2!

So, I've been playing Command: Modern Air / Naval Operations again recently again and I came across a link to a video (although it's mostly just audio) of a pair of F-14s flying a CAP when they encounter 2 Libyan Mig-23s. It's a pretty interesting listen, and you can really hear the adrenalin of the lead Tomcat pilot as the MiGs close in. The Tomcats changed direction 5 times with the MiGs matching each time before the decision was made to engage. http://theaviationist.com/2015/10/31/impressive-previously-unreleased-footage-shows-how-two-f-14-tomcats-shot-down-two-gaddafis-mig-23s/

Hey, just in case anyone else has been having problems with the X52 or X52 Pro on Windows 10, Saitek has some beta drivers finally available. I've tested them briefly, and my computer no longer locks up when unplugging the stick! ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/beta/Windows10/

The NTTR is now official available for pre-sale for DCS World! Its expensive though, costing $50 normally, $40 right now. It also requires 8gb of RAM and 30GB hdd space. It looks amazing though. Will anyone be getting it?
-
Aha! Okay, that it got it working again I think. I don't have time to test it right now, but it's not crashing anymore. Thanks!
-
Well, I installed the latest CL Eye drivers and now the camera will start, but when I try to start it in Freetrack it just crashed without an error. Reinstalling Freetrack didn't help. Hmmmm...

Hey guys, I'm finally back from my long time away and I just upgraded to Windows 10. However, whenever I try to start my webcam in Freetrack, I'm getting an access violation error, and freetrack crashes. I haven't explored the issue too deeply yet, but I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this yet? - Somnus

Yep. My joystick is super future proof apparently. It can fly WWI, WWII, Cold War and future space ships, apparently

I just finished watching the movie "Riddick." Towards the end, Riddick is escaping the surface of a very hostile planet and something that flashed across the screen for maybe 2 seconds caught my eye. I went back and paused it, and look what I saw:

The Spring Sale is going on over at the DCS website. They've got better deal than their Spring Sale on Steam. I got the MiG-15 at full price during it. It's $30 on the website right now!

"We didn’t know what 90 percent of the switches did"

"We had one switch that we just labeled BOMB EXPLODE." Ha!
