  1. No chance of that happening! The defensive fire from those 17's is murder! Freya is working fine. I've been doing most of my A2A flying for the German side but have only done A2G for the allies so havnt spawned anything to know if Chain Home is working. I will give it a go though.
  2. Fair points. All you have to do is hit a plane 30% smaller than you that can out roll, out turn & out climb you. Easy peazy...
  3. Bro... You got no idea!! I own all the DCS content more to support the developers than anything else. I may not like/want what they releasing now but I want them to work on releasing more which I may like. In any case, I am a big WWII fan but I have rarely flown them because I've always had IL2 to fly. Now with my IL2 install borked I have no choice but to get my WWII fix with DCS. You know, I always thought IL2 was better, not because of the FM or modeling but because of the overall atmosphere. They do a great job pf putting you there if you know what I mean. Well all of that has changed now. I cant begin to tell you how much I have enjoyed flying your mission over the last few days! All the little details you have put in do a great job of "putting you there". In fact, I have logged more WW2 DCS hours in the last 4 days than all my flight time previously here to date. For example, the other day I decided to attack Dover in my Anton (bad idea, dont attempt alone) & was delighted with all the flak & tracers. It was so cool & captivating I didnt even think to take a screenshot and thats saying something! LOL
  4. I really dont understand why everyone views a new add on or module's worth through the lens of PvP. I see it time & again on the DCS forums as if PvP is all that anyone does. The simple truth is both in DCS & IL2 the PvP community is a small (but vocal) segment. The VAST majority of players play both games single player & that is where "inferior" planes will be most welcome. Having said that. Planes like the Zero are not truly out classed. I too am a veteran of Warbirds, AirWarrior & Aces High playing PvP in the open servers & in scenarios. While the Hellcat & Corsair etc shine in history they arent "all that". In order to defeat the Zeke, all things being equal you have to use energy tactics. The problem is if the Zeke pilot has good SA hes going to see you coming & can turn fast enough that you wont be able to get guns on. Moreover, if he times it right he turns fast enough to get guns on you as you zoom climb away. A brief shot to be sure but enough time to do some damage. Then there is the fact that with every zoom climb you dont get quite at high as the last one so successive attacks happen with a diminished energy state. I have seen & done it myself numerous times. After a few attacks the Corsair, Hellcat, Lightning etc etc ends up in a rate fight which they can never win. All of this assumes neither side has any help show up which is never a good assumption to make. IMO if they released a PTO with the A6M, N1K & J2M there would be no shortage of people looking to take up the Rising Sun.
  5. Yes sir, flying your mission. This particular shot is 5-10km NW of Dover.
  6. I would also love to see a PTO of any portion of the war (if I can ever get IL2 working again). I will have to respectfully disagree with @Vogel about the adequacy of the P40 & F2A. Sure the Zeke was "better" but in capable hands Both the Tomahawk & Buffalo distinguished themselves well. The AVG in China showed what the P-40 could do when fought on its terms as did the F2A in Finnish service during the Winter War. The real reason the P40's & Buffalos earned such a bad rep was 3 fold. 1) Pilot skill. The Japanese pilots were much better trained & combat tested. 2) Tactics: On every occasion allied fighters were defensive in the engagement reacting to a Japanese attack. 3) Ignorance: Allied pilots did not know the Zero's capabilities & tried to turn fight them. All of these lessons were learned the hard way & paid in blood. Human nature being what it is they blamed the planes.
  7. I have no experience with the T-flight pedals but based on what you have said would suggest CH Pro pedals as a potential alternative. Their fidelity is pretty good & they arent terribly expensive. I had one last 10yrs so they are pretty bulletproof.
  8. @Erhardt & myself taking the Scooter for a stroll last night.
  9. Meh... It will buff out... I took a cpl hits testing a mission. With part of the wing blown off but it was controllable albeit with allot of aileron input so I decided to try to RTB & land it. As I neared the base & got below 600kph it was clear I had no shot at landing it so I pointed its nose at a clear patch of ground & punched out. A remarkable thing happened. It kept flying in a circle around me. Is that damned thing ever going to come down? I watched it circle me for 10min with no sign of it ever coming down. Getting bored I logged off but it was still slowly climbing when I did.
  10. There are a cpl available. Most require you to own a Wacom tablet. The VRK one seems to be the most stable https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/211308-vrk-a-virtual-reality-enabled-kneeboard-with-touch-and-ink-support/
  11. Believe me I tried! I succeeded in only instilling a passing interest in it though. I would say it is inherit to an extent (young boys gravitate to cars & planes while young girls to dolls) & social training reinforces it. My own girls a very "girly girls" & my wife is to blame for it. I tried my best to turn them into Tom boys
  12. I wish my parents had been that cool (Rich probably would have helped too). I cant even live vicariously through my children; the good Lord in his infinite wisdom (and humor) blessed me with girls.
  13. I have a channel as well. I just started it a cpl months ago then a bout of illness made me put it on hiatus but I intend to start adding more content again soon. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6TQye-ekUDeD9pCM5AoUCw
  14. What is your Timezone? EST Do you have a joystick or HOTAS? Yes, Virpil Stick & Throttle, Slaw pedals Do you have TeamSpeak and Discord installed, as well as a working microphone? Yes Do you have VR, TrackIR, or a FreeTrack system for view control? Yes, I use track IR for tinkering & put on my Reverb when doing serious A2A. What sims are you currently flying? I primarily fly DCS but have a fair bit of time in IL2 Stalingrad, Cliffs of Dover & Rise of flight. How did you hear about JG1? Was talking to buddy about various online squadrons & told him I wish I could find an English speaking Mig21 Sqdrn. He said hang on & hit me with your link. Is there anything else that you'd like us to know? Long time flight simmer that takes my flying seriously & myself not to seriously.
